Yes exactly! there is no reason to call it a graduation, it's just a party for the kids. Having them put on paper grad hats will not mean anything to them. The cookies are what counts at that age! lol
I think it is sad... I have only been to two schools in my life. Graduated grade 7 (elementry school) and went on to high school to graduate in 2009. Only times that are necessary to celebrate.
I thinks it's also quite important because aside from home, school is also a kids' foundation. Especially the kindergarten years.
uhh. americans are too quick to praise their children for the stupidest things and that leads to kids feeling a sense of entitlement and pride for accomplishing nothing. case in point: paris hilton.
But Paris Hilton didn't grow up the same way most kids do. Her praise and huge ego came from a different type of childhood.
She's a typical American. I saw her dad drive by the other day in his 93 Chevy Lumina with a bumper sticker saying "My child is special at Van Nuys Middle School".
