Unless reported, google is going to find it difficult figuring out which links are bought and which aren't...

You buy using a private transaction, how is google gonna find that out... Is google gonna ban footer or sidebar links altogether?
Unless it is a text link ad, that you bought from a text link broker, and you never show the link u are buying online, google is never going to differentiate between a blogroll and a bought link.

Also how about the paid submission in Yahoo directory? or any directory for that matter...
It is as good as bought link..

And yeah I read the blog post by Matt Cutts that started it all... Paid link sure breaks the functionality of organic placements, but rather than banning, google should come up with better algorithm...

And however better google algorithm become, somebody is gonna beat it always... Just as Virus Writers and Anti-Virus companies have raced all these years....

I'm glad I found this thread.

I was wondering what I did wrong because yesterday about 25 of my key phrases dropped from pages 75-79 down past page 85.

    Pissed me off.

No changes for me either. Then again, I have no paid links. I do think that G is working hard at finding and devaluing paid links. Sometimes they will correctly identify those links, sometimes not.

Based on my Google Analytics report, my traffic coming from Google has increased dramatically in the past 3 days. Then I noticed my site has 4 results in the first SERP of the keyword "anime wordpress themes".. yay! ^_^

For the last 2-3 weeks my hits have gone up and down. They go up for a couple of days and then they dip. It usually happens from Thursday to Sunday when they go down and I have been thinking that it could be because of weekends but I am not so sure anymore since it happens every weekend now.
My area shouldn't be depending on if it is a weekend or not so it seems that Google is trying something out. What I also see is when it comes back they (Google) have indexed some old pages once again and it goes back and forth, up and down and in and out. Can't keep up with Google anymore.
Maybe their new 360 degree camera is sitting outside my window checking what I am doing......

One goes down one goes up , google periodically sends down the new sites , how old is your site ?
And if you bought strong links for a new site this happens.

    Hi,

I lost some position for some keywords.
I hope they come back to old positions.

OK Listen guys, here is what is happening:

As they have done a few times in the past, they have reverted the Google rankings altogether to 1 or 2 months before (maybe less). How do I know this? I have sites that were bought around that time, and I see they rank as if we were now at that time. I am not exactly sure about the date though, but it should be perhaps 1 or 2 months ago at least.

Why do they do that? I don't know, but they might have messed something up nowadays; there are already some rumors that Google is broken. So if they messed up something again, for a temporary time, they show some time ago's rankings. Some of my keywords which recently ranked #1 are not even indexed now. Again the only explanation is that Google reverted some things to the past - temporary though, they try to solve something most probably...
