This is so weird and amazing, good amazing but amazing nevertheless.

We have opened a parenting advice site about 3 weeks ago and this thing is showing up very high on google already.

We had someone post on 'madeline mckann' the kidnapped girl, and already we are on top of google, just below BBC and you tube. (out of 215 pages)

'parenting advice' bottom page 2 out of 1,250,000 pages.

'parental advice forum' pos 1 in google out of 1,240,000 pages
'parenting advice forum' is position 4 out of 1,540,000 pages

We are currently working on some other keywords but this is ranking us very well incredibly fast.

To be perfectly honest I'm not really even sure why ...

I don't mean to disappoint you, but most of the time, new sites rank well. And then drop for sometimes, so better to be ready for the plunge, just in case

Actually, a better criteria to judge competitivenesses is the number of AdWords displayed on the result pages rather than the raw number of results.

But good luck and keep on the good work.

guitarpaul: Thanks, and no, just some basic link building
monty: I though new sites get sandboxed and then raise in the ranks.
What do you mean the number of adwords displayed? You mean the sponsored ads on the side in the google search?

It's not uncommon for Google to give "some trust" to new sites for the first few weeks. Then, after this time, you may be hit by a "sandbox like" effect.
    It's sometimes happen, sometimes not...

And yes, I meant the sponsored ads on the side and above the results in google search. If companies pay to be here (and if there is a lot of them) then, keywords are competitive.

Sandboxing also seems to depend on the competitiveness of the keywords. I have several keywords I am targeting my site towards. Initially, I ranked well for all of them, even a couple of number 1 ranks like you. Later, I dropped to the 400 and 500 range for some words while I retained the number 1 rank for others. The fewer the sponsored links, the lower the chance of you being sandboxed. Just my $0.02

I understand your points guys but I'm not sure if I buy it.

Would it not be possible for me to create a site www.ubersuperduperseo.com and promise to get you to the top of Google, I would do that for some good keywords, google would put me on top for a month, I'd make thousands of dollars and then the domain would drop.

    Lather, Rinse, Repeat ...

The other thing to take into account is the competition for this keywords. You might be able to be first for 'uber seo' 'duper seo' but not for seo. The competition has a lot of impact.
