Just buy a normal priced laptop and get a beast of a PC. But for a low spec laptop with a high price check this out: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/116066, this is a UK price, so for Americans this will cost around $5500

    This is what you get
Processor Intel Core Solo U1400 / 1.2 GHz
    Installed Size 1 GB
Technology DDR II SDRAM - 533 MHz
    Hard Drive 60 GB - 4200 rpm
Display Type 12.1" TFT active matrix
    Wireless NIC Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
OS Provided Microsoft Windows XP Professional - English

Hardly worth the price tag really, it doesnt even come with Vista

Not sure what would be the best laptop but I've had a Toshiba for about 4 years now and I use it an average of 10 hours a day and it's still going strong.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-VA3 that I got for about $1000CAD with:

    Intel Pentium Dual-Core 1.6GHz
    1GB RAM
    80GB HD
    15.4" Widescreen
    Wireless Internet, LAN, dialup
    DVD Burner
    Not sure on the VRAM.

    It's a pretty stable laptop.
