I found a free alternative to CopyScape while searching on google. The site is plagiarismchecker.com I just wanted to ask you guys, whether any one has actually used it? and whether it is as accurate as copyscape? Thanks.
I've tried PlagiarismChecker and compared to Copyscape looks like Copyscape is far better. When I tested with some phrases, PC said that some of the phrases is more than 32 words and it will be truncated, it's said that the limitation is from google, but I didn't have this problem at Copyscape. Moreover from what I see, copyscape has a good mechanism to check duplicate contents, it's not just comparing phrase by phrase.
I've used both, and Copyscape is the best. It allows you to enter more text than Plagiarism Checker does.
Oh, that is a very good point... I occasionally get bored and check my old work in Google. I just copy a random paragraph, throw it in quotes, and see what's out there. Maybe I should check it out...hmmm.... Rebecca

PlagiarismChecker seems to focus more on ACADEMIC plagiarism. Similar to another plagiarism tool called Plagium. For web content, Copyscape is great if the plagiarist copied BLOCKS of text. It remains the most frequently used article copy detection tool out there. For phrase-based duplicate content checking try the article checker. It compares unpublished to published, published to published, source to source, and database snapshots of unpublished work.
I agree on this one, except what do you mean by blocks and by phrase? From my experience, copyscape does check phrase by phrase too.
Copyscape is great for longer phrases and blocks. The thing about duplicate text checkers is that the shorter the phrases the harder it gets.
one of the best tools i used in creating my content is contentcomposer. built with optimization in mind, i certainly liked the plagiarism checker. instead of manually picking up random sentences and searching them over google, i simple run the checker and it does the selection of 5 random sentences within your article.
