Make money from an image hosting site?

    Hi,

I have 2 semi popular image hosting websites.
One is 'mature', (but not porn!), while the other is more general type of hosting.

At the moment I do not make any cash from either sites, I have no adverts, nothing.

So, how would you make money from an image hosting website?

    Thanks

Everyone likes adsense but not sure about the one site. I would try amazon and use the image ads that adjust for each page. This way it shows something that relates to the image.

If you are recieving lots of traffic, you can use pay per impression ads. You can also use adbrite and sell links off your site!

google adsense for a start, then you may offer premium services (extra storage for instance) for a regular small fee

Well I dont think that adsense is a good idea for image or file hosting sites.

But it will be better to offer premium service to earn a good amount.

It is difficult to control every single pictures that are added.
And any one of them could cause the AdSense account to be closed.

Would you have a service/plan in mind?
At the moment I offer 100% free lifetime file hosting, (2Mb max), but of course I can change that.

Maybe remove files after x months?
Or charge for files above 100K for example?

Or even charge per bandwidth usage?

    Any suggestions?

Another idea is to pay out your users to get a x amount of impressions per image. This can skyrocket your profits, but then you have to go through the whole accounting aspect of paying out your costumers. Just some food for thought.

Adsense & Adversal are the best ways !
Then u can offer image galleries for a small charge.
And do add an online watermark (very small) to all the images uploaded for free - this can also help u to get more traffic.

Adsense will not work as some picture could get the account closed before I even know it exists.

I wonder if there are any software out there to handle that kind of thing.
Gallery and watermarking sound like a great idea.

Not too sure, but guess google says a big no if it's just pics and adsense. You may have to check with the adsense team before you go ahead with adsense idea.
