5 Features Needed ... What Directory should I use?

    Hello!
I've done many searches and have narrowed by choice down to a few directories for my project. ( PHPLD, WSNLinks, GossamerThreads)

My project is too create a Link Directory. Site will also have a forum for users to communicate.

Here are a few of the main things I'm after ... Any comments/suggestions on why 1 might be better than the other?

1.) User Accounts with a User Management System. Does PHPLD?

2.) Forum Integration ( Vbulletin, PhBB, or any other prominent forum)

3.) Add to favorites ( Where users can add links to their personal favorites list)

4.) Great Support & Community (Like PHPLD)

5.) Search Feature, Sort Feature, & a Link Rating Feature Ajax Preferably, so user does not have to refresh after rating a Listing.

I realize I will have to purchase some modifications, or even pay for custom mods as no directory script (that I know) has all of these by default.

    Comments? Suggestions? :)

Please take a look at this phpLD example site
    http://www.forplex.com/
Script is very flexible and allows for additional Mods and integration
Just to give you an idea of what you can achieve with phpLD :)

Very nice looking site, Thanks for the reference.

I know that PHPLD is very feature rich, and that site proves it.

I didn't see a Forum, the ability for users to register, etc? :)

Any more insight on this would be fantastic. Anyone have a working PHPLD directory up with a forum, and user accounts with user classes?

    Thanks for the comments :)

Would be quite easy to integrate a Forum into the design to give that integrated
    'look n feel'

I think phpld will suit your purposes nicely.

I am also thinking of integrating a forum and blog into my next project, is there any details anywhere on how to do it or do you know anyone that can do the work for an affordable price?

    1. and 3. - I think closest to your needs in www.indexu.com
    2. - Looking at tableless skins at http://www.indexuthemes.com I think there will be no problems with integration.
    4. Really can't tell.
    5. You should probably need to hire someone to implement some Ajax in your script. There are some ready to use codes at www.miniajax.com

PHPLD has many mods, but I think much more work should be done to suit your needs than on indexu.

Anyway, see what other have to say and decide yourself. Hope this helps.

phpld and forum, phpld and wordpress, all of that is easy. all you need is some skills with templates.

try integrating phpld users with their login info so they could login to your VB powered forum with that info. Now we are talking about something worth talking about.

    Indexu or PhPLynx

i emailed the Indexu owner for the coupon last night... you get 50% discount if you're a DP member :) so instead of costing $99 its $49 for you
