Why do some of the "supplemental results" of my forum rank higher than PR4 pages? But the supplemental results are original. I don't understand why Google put them as supplemental, maybe a recent name change I made on my forum. The supplemental thing does cause me to fall from SERPs, but some of my supplemental results rank higher than PR4, PR3 pages for several keywords.
Did you change the title tags of your forum recently if that Google puts a page in supplemental or the reason maybe some duplicate contents...
Yes, I changed the title tags recently. And that, I think, gave me a big punch. Almost all my pages are now supplemental even though 99% are original content. Do you think the supplemental issue would be solved soon since Google would notice that the tags are actually different? Or should I revert the title tags back? But that might deteriorate the situation. But the pages that I created AFTER doing the title tag change rank very very very high in Google, better than even .edu pages. And another interesting thing is that even some of the supplementals rank higher than good PR pages of other people. I really dont understand what exactly is going on. The bad thing is that almost all the site is now supplemental, and most pages fell out of SERPs. The good thing, however, is that 1) the topics posted AFTER the title tag change (the ones that were already indexed by Google) rank very high for the keywords in the topics. And 2) Even some of my supplemental result pages still rank well, though not as well as they were non-supplemental.
Also, do you think my new pages (those created aftre the title tag change) would also fall to the supplemental results thing? If so, that would be horrible.
Pages don't go supplemental because of duplicate content. @vex, I would have to see a specific search to know why, too many reasons possible. -Michael
Yes, that seems to be true, mvandemar. Thanks for the info! But why, do you think, they go supplemental then? And why do some supplementals rank better than pages with high PR?
