LOVED the ending. I like how Chase made the audience PIECE TOGETHER the clues. There's 3 people in that restaurant with a motive to kill Tony. I love how the black screen refers back to his conversation with Bobby about hearing (and seeing) the one that will kill you. BRILLIANT.
I think I got a conclusion! What if the writer of Sopranos just didn't want to upset fans, and copped out the ending to please them? OR he wanted to make room for a sopranos movie? Either way, I think it was funny that every possible way of Tony dying was entertained. Tragedy by a walk-in shooting, by a guy from the bar, or Meadow getting in a car crash, or a bomb from the guy who went to the bathroom, etc etc.... I think Chase was just having a little fun at the audience's expense...and setting up hype for a movie..
It's one of two things: they're setting things up for a movie, or Tony actually got shot, and the very last shot is from Tony's point of view: meadow walking into the diner, then..blank..he got shot in the head and didn't see it coming.
Which was similar to how his OWN father died. Got shot in a restaurant while Janice was entering the restaurant.
