This might be a stupid question, but I don't know a lot about SEO. So anyway.. There are tons of great .ws domains available for registration. And I was just wondering if search engines care about the domain extension? Will a .com domain get better results than the same .ws domain, or vice versa?
All that matters are the backlinks. .com domain has much more financial value though Also people tend to like and trust more .com.
Yeah most people trust .com (or the commercial equivalent of your geographical TLD - co.uk, co.nz, com.au, etc.)
You have to ask yourself what is better. Is a Ferari better than a Yugo for horse power. Then you have to think well I could buy the Yugo and put a V-8 under the hood with twin turbos or supercharger and then supermodify the rest of the engine to outperform the Ferari and yes then it would be equal to the ferari or maybe better but it cost you twice as much to create such a car. I think I will go with the .com and just waste my time slowly building backlinks. Besides a Ferari is more recognizable than a Yugo ,,, I meant a .com is more recognizable than a .ws
I did an experiment with a dot com and a dot info...guess which got indexed first? http://www.someuseless.info/501/how-to-get-indexed-by-google-fast/
BTW just for your info, it is a 231 days old thread that you are replying to. I guess the OP had already had the answers by now
