I've seen adwords accounts promoting ebay that would make any ppc manager cringe. It's all about millions of keywords, low bids and the high payouts of ebay's affiliate program.

But DKI will still put the word "Clothing" in, not Shoes.

    Quite right you are.

I guess the strategy is to capture any kind of baby item.

But then they'd need to explicitly put in the term (e.g. baby clothing).

Otherwise, the advert would still say "Baby"!

Right, I don't deny that. Just trying to reason why they would sponsor just the term "baby".

It's funny right up until the point you realize it's garbage clouding up what could be (in many cases) legitimate advertisements that somehow have either a lower quality score or too high of a cost for the advertiser. Google continues to just give a rip. Hardly follows in line with the best interest of users (as they claim to do in mission statement)

The one in my sig is also real

Because no one's looking that closely at the few hundred thousand auto generated keywords they just added to that AdWords account:)

Still believe those ads are "blocking" some other ads huh;) They're just low priced filler, nothing more.

That's funny because i recall one of your last comments in regards to this topic was 'i think they've changed things since then' (referencing adwords apparent quality system)

    - So if nothing is/was wrong, what's to change? - i don't think we need to get into the latest adwords changes.

Which reminds me of something i've been meaning to ask, is there any reason when some ones cost goes up, it's $1 to $5 to $10 & nothing in between? - It barely follows increments, really.

btw i was heart broken that you didn't respond to my thread/comments here & here

The qs rating system has changed a few times in the past year. Companies don't only change something when it's broken - changes are made in an effort to improve things as well. Kind of surprised I would even need to point that out.

I'm sure you'll get over it:)

i was on the german amazon once, looking for condoms.

As you know..if an item is out of stock on amazon it say something like:

"Sorry..we're out of this item. Buy one used now"

    Had a good laugh ;)

Very funny ads. But maybe those keywords are dead cheap, because nobody bid on such type of keywords with meaningless ads. I would like to have interviewed those guys if he really got any use of those ads. That's why, I think, Google started that "Quality Score" headache.

The funniest ad I ever came across was for a how-to-make-money-online e-book. It was a Rich Jerk type of ad and it went something like this:

    Hey, Loser. Are You Ugly?
Worse still, Are You Ugly And Poor?
Buy My Ebook & You'll Only Be Ugly!
