THREAD CLOSED -----------------------Original Message----------------------- Hi all, I received an e-mail about an image on one of my websites today. The website in question is Free Stock Images. Its about the picture on the homepage of the girl next to the sunset. The person said they were very disturbed by it! In the e-mail they actually put: Its an artistic photograph - isn't this obvious by the colours used and the way the photo is taken? Anyway Ive refused to remove the image. Does the image offend anyone else?
mmmmmm it's a strange one m8 , it's a very nicely took photo of a lovely looking girl . but she looks very young and the way they have had her pose makes her look uneasy ( like she isnt enjoying whats happeneing or whats about to happen ) maybe that is what the person really meens . you can not please all of the people m8 , some will like it some will not
if people think this is offensive then what has the world come too!!!!! There is nothing wrong with it mate, so sad what peoples minds think! Lee
So no-one is allowed to have photographs of 'minors' anymore because it is promoting paedophilia? Look at the nature of the website! What about the images on the internal pages (http://www.freestockimages.net/image_articles.php) Does the girl on the right look like she is going to commit suicide?
I would never have thought that; so I think it depends, as usual, on the mindset of the viewer. I see nothing provocative about that picture; but then, young girls don't turn me on. Phil
its all in the eyes of the viewer, tell the pedofile to stop looking at kids in that way and maybe pictures wont invoke such feelings to him. when i was younger they actually had commercials that showed babies bare asses and it didnt matter because people werent sick minded creepy assholes like him.
Your allowed to do what you want. If the comments offend you than take the picture down or if they don't offend you than leave it up. You ask for opinions and I simply told you with out sugar coating it. To some ppl it looks like ART but to others maybe.
True. What bugs me is that the site has had this design for many months and it gets over 10,000 unique visitors per month (its even near the top in google for 'Stock Images') and when I asked for initial feedback months ago the little girl was never raised, people liked the photos a lot! I don't want to offend people though so they leave the site as that would be throwing money away for the sake of one small image!
You don't get it, do you? It's the way the child is posing, she is holding a sheet to cover what appears to be her nude body. Are you trying to play stupid? If you don't see something wrong with this, then there is definitely something wrong with you!
I can see where it might offend some people. It looks a little seductive or suggestive. I am sure people might think the picture will be taken from your site and used to promote porn. Is there anything wrong with the picture? No, but if your visitors are offended by or get the wrong idea, then you need to decide if the picture is worth leaving up.
What I am saying is look at the way the photo is taken. If it was some little girl in a school changing room taken with a home camera covering herself in some nasty towel then fair enough! Thats a paedo at work, but its not like that. The photo is simply supposed to represent a young woman reflecting. Many people here clearly think that the photo is offensive so what if the photo was just cut at the bottom so you could only see her face? Still a paedo at work?
Hmmm.. it does look controversial, if I were you I would remove it.. upsetting visitors (even if it's just one) won't give a good image to your business/website at all. There are so many other good stock photos in your website, why not change it? It seems like it's much more than.. just having that specific photo there..
The site has great traffic so I might just change it to a boring photo of a wheel or something else completely random so no-one can be offended!
Ok, that's a new take on it. You are saying that out of 10,000 visitors a month only one visitor has complained? Out of 10,000 visitors you will always be likely to get someone complaining about some aspect or another. But I would say that one complaint isn't enough. That is not only a tiny percentage but clearly no where near representative of anything except that one person's mindset. Personally, I'd wait until a few more people expressed some unhappiness before making a change. There's nothing overtly provocative about that picture and your site clearly doesn't endorse or promote porn of any kind; the person is being oversensitive or else has an agenda of their own. Phil
Thanks Phil, it gets 10,000 every month. So its had about 50,000 unique visitors since the deisgn was first put up! I might change it anyway just to save my time on this thread. Yes I agree, every visitor counts at the end of the day, and if changing one image increases the profits even higher then I don't mind having any old picture there!
You came on and asked an opinion, I could care less what you do. Don't ask if you don't want an opinion that disagrees with yours. There are a lot of people on here that would find it offensive and if you had one complaint, who knows how many others skipped your site because of it. If you are happy with the site and your traffic and earning are great than by all means close this thread and leave up the picture.
TBH I expetced everyone to just say it was a nice photo and it was just one paranoid person who sent the e-mail, I thought that based on the fact I think its a great photo and in no way promotes paedophilia. Obviously I was wrong and I understand that. But if it offends one person then It can offend others. I am going to change it based on what people have said. Its a shame but it has to cater to everyones needs at the end of the day. I guess with every black cloud there is a silver lining. Hopefully in this case the change of photo in a few days will result in people staying on the site longer meaning higher profits!
