I got an infraction here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=3289301#post3289301 I just wanted to say, I don't think infractions for pointless postings are made clear enough. I posted the "PM SENT" so that when we exchange itrader, I won't be held accountable for NOT posting in the thread -and I usually forget to post in the thread once the deal is over. That's all. glad it's only a couple days though.
Maybe next time try something other then "PM sent"? Maybe an "I'm interested" or something? I'm unsure if that counts as pointless as well though... Though, your point is rather valid. You can't participate in iTrader if you don't post in the thread (or is that a myth?)
You just need to have a valid thread for an iTrader to be exchanged. It is not necessary that both members should have posted in the thread.
*ponders* I re-read the thread on it. I guess it's not misleading at all, though I'd bet that many (including myself up to this point) assume that both parties must post to make it look like deal was had. Hmmm... that'll certainly save me time next time I make a deal, heh, it's hard coming up with something other then "PM sent" when that's all that actually happened. Thanks for pointing that out! Q
Only the mods are in a position to answer that. As far as I know, there are no official guidelines on iTrader... just a sticky post by a regular member.
When you're giving iTrader you see this nice red text So basically I guess it's indeed required to have a post in that thread; how could DP mods/admins else check whether or not is a valid iTrader, and you actually participated in the deal?
Right, but on the other hand, even if you have posted in the thread, that is not a guarantee that you actually did any trading with the thread creator, is it? I have a few jobs that I completed, but did not reply in the thread because the OP said to PM him/her. Sticking a PM Me in the thread when the OP says to PM THEM means you aren't following instructions. Most of us are guilty of these types of postings, especially in our beginning months here. But the answer to all of this is NO, you do not have to have a post in a thread to participate in a deal. Do any of you remember the guy that has never made a post, but does have an I trader? his name is something like 0_0... there was a thread about him on Digital Point quite a while back. PS. Instead of making a useless reply in a thread, you can use the Thread Tools and subscribe to the thread so that you can keep track of it. Plus, you'll have all of your IMs as a record for at least 90 days.
You're definitely right; I just thought it was a requirement in fact, that you must post a reply in the thread ... Well, I guess only a mod or a admin can give a fully trustworthy answer to this question
You can award an iTrader if you've participated in a deal thread regardless if you've actually posted in that thread or not. It's something I do quite regularly - most of the time there's no need to post in a simple 'buy X for $Y' type thread. I seem to remember either Smyrl or Sarahk posting about this before.
Yes, but if that is the case, it would be so much better if it were posted in the "FAQ/Rules" DP has 3.3 million posts and it is difficult to find that one particular post .
i thought the rules are that the deal has to be made in the thread and not in pm? maybe i'm wrong, but if i'm right, another infraction maybe?
Not if you provide full information to mods and quotes from PM. But one of the dealers must have participated in the thread. Deals through PM arent eligible for iTraders. Thus, you or the seller must have a post in the thread.
I've been digging and I found this by Shannon: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2833721&highlight=iTrader#post2833721 Agrees with what I said before.
Of course it is. How would a new member know which post to search for? Just searching for "iTrader" in title gives 221 threads.
You need information about iTrader word or what is iTrader? Also, anyone with little common sense would search in the Digital Point section.(And not BSt etc.)
The question is how will the new member know that the information given in the sticky thread is incorrect ? You searched because you knew there is a post somewhere that contradicts the sticky thread.
