I have a website that's on the second page of google for a search term that I really want to rank well with. The site has been indexed in google for around 10 days and in that time it has beaten a lot of sites and is now ranking fourth on the second page. I have checked some sites on the first page and it appears they have no PR and no backlinks. I have checked their on page SEO and it also doesn't appear any greater than mine. My site has about 20 backlinks: 1 pr 4 and the rest around pr 1 and 0. I really don't see why I'm not ranking higher than some of these first page sites. Could it simply be that they are older than my site? What i'm looking for is a quick way to beat these sites and make it to first page. Would a high PR link to my site work?
I would say they are older and this helps. Your site might move around for awhile since it is so new. Just because it is on second page right now does not mean it will stay there. Get more links to your site and try to get links that rank Pr3 or better.
sounds to me that this is a term that is not worth much....if the sites on the first page have no backlinks, then no one is targeting and in turn no one is searching for it
Well the search term is searched for 88,000 times a month so it's a decent term. I'm going to have to work on backlinks I think.
i would like to remind you that updating your site regularly can really help you rank well... are you updating it regularly?
