thats the worst logo ever.. I think a dispute is going against this logo as it evokes EPILEPTIC attacks in epilepsy patients.
the logo itself is crap and boring but I guess because of all the animated promotions that will be done it has to look like something the ad is very colour intensive and it really hurts my eyes Cheers
different peoples different thoughts. may be the selector like it very much.but I don't like it too much
it looks like Lisa Simpson giving a Blowjob, as someone said in another thread while back this is a better logo
I wouldn't like to be a competitor under this logo. I'd boycot the games. It is a kind of an insult and tasteless as fish 'n chips.
except for the fact that they've spent nearly their entire lives to get to that moment...I highly doubt they'd give a rat's ass about some crappy logo!
I think they've cocked up on this one - it was only $400k so we can scrap it and start again! We've got 5 years to get it right.
Well spotted mitcharr - it's actually GBP £400k (how could I get my own currency wrong) - about USD $800k. Still, nothing in comparison to the cost of the games - it was meant to be about £14 billion, but it's looking like the final cost will be at least double that now. Poor London taxpayers.
What's the point of having it in 2012,if the world is gonna end? On a more serious note, I don't really like it.
I have seen many other people add thier own ideas for the design BUT none have been STRONG or INSPIRATIONAL. When you bare in mind that the brief was that the logo should be strong, its easy to see why the designers moved away from the slightly more traditional images that have been used in the past. In particular, (IMHO) Athens in 2004 and Sydney in 2000 whilst being relevant for their individual countries and the Olympics own logo, they could never be described as STRONG. This LOGO is to me strong and inspirational in the sense that it is direct challenge to all the logos produced previously. Its ground breaking in the fact that it moves away from the 'twee' designs used previously and dares to be different. If you take the Olympic motto - Citius -Altius - Fortius (Faster - Higher - Stronger) then surley this ethos requires a logo that is also challenging. Many of the 'alternative' designs I have seen can only be described as safe, they spell LONDON and use the Olympic rings but the very essence of the Olympics is to not be safe, to change and challange the norm. No one has ever won an Olympic Gold by being safe, why should the Olympics have a safe logo? IMHO this logo and the reaction it has caused is more about the spirit of the games than any other previous logo. Strong - very much so, Inspirational - without a doubt (it has inspired much debate and questioning), attractive - I think so but there again attractive is a reletive concept.
well from a person that used to suffer from seizures (been clear for about 5 years) it's crap, there advert would cause seizures, i have to look away when it comes on the tv otherwise i get a very bad headache, heck i think i could come up with a better one and i've only been designing for about 4 months.
