First off, I am pretty new to adsense. In fact, this is my first attempt at trying to put it up on my site. I have heard of people worry about being 'click bombed', etc. So, I want to take several precautions before I put up my ads. First off, is this normal: I am trying to place adds in the same place that DP has them (small text links underneath first post). For some reason, 99% of the time, it shows the above. I am guessing it is based on keywords in the topic, but so far, only one topic (out of 20+) that I tried, yielded that result. Just a search bar with no ads to click on. Secondly, I want to make sure and block my IP, as well as limit the number of clicks a user can do, to prevent click bombing. Both of these options seem to be available via Adlogger, but I don't think I am doing something right. I have adlogger installed and running fine (on a seperate database than my actual site), and I see the options to do this there. However, when I try to block my own IP, I am still seeing the ads from my PC. I am guessing that if my IP is blocked, I should not be seeing anything, correct? Maybe I am doing something wrong with adlogger. This is my first time with both adlogger and adsense, so it could be a simple mistake, but any help would be appreciated.
I've always had trouble setting up adlogger. if your IP is blocked you shouldn't be seeing any ads, that's correct.
hmm.. well I entered my IP address under Manage -> Banned IPs and IP ranges. and entered my adsense code into 'wrapping code' which says its supposed to block out the IP addresses that I specified. So I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Does it take a while to go into effect? I just saw no immediate change, and disabled my ads.
No it's not normal. You got this because AdSense can't determine what's the language of your page. Add: google_language = "en"; before //--></script> This should fix the problem
YES, that is normal - that is a new format for text-links that came out about 9 months ago.. it sounds like you have your adlogger setup right, but for more support on it you should really go HERE.
Did you use the html and javascript that comes with adlogger and wrap the ads in them? You also have to place some code at the top of your page.
There is also 2 more codes besides the one that wraps around each individual ad. These is one that goes ABOVE ALL code and one that goes before the </body> tag. These must be placed on ALL Pages you wish to use adlogger, else it will not work. More support for adlogger can be found through their own website www.adlogger.org
