Since there are a lot of non-believers/atheists in here, may I point to a miracle that took place in the year 2001 in the U.K. by a Maltese saint Saint Gorg Preca. Note: to be proclaimed saint, one must have 2 miracles that cannot be explained by science i.e. a miracle. The whole story is here: groups.google.com/group/blind-catholics/browse_thread/thread/8d8b7404a176cc86/51d5cacd274ef107?q=Malta&rnum=1#51d5cacd274ef107 As a summary:
If god can do whatever god wants, god can create something that god cannot handle. If god cannot handle what he have created, than he isn't omni-powerful. If god cannot create something that he cannot handle, than god isn't omni-powerful. Therefore, an omni-powerful god cannot exist.
The problem is that you're trying to restrict an omni-powerful God through human logic. This is why you're getting stuck in a loop.
That's also a Paradox. The solution to this one is easy.. it's the egg. Eggs have existed far longer than chickens.
But an omni-powerful god must be able to limit himself to the power of human logic. If he do that, he will get stuck
So.. if god creates a stone that is so heavy that god cannot lift it, god isn't omni-powerful, if god cannot create a stone that god cannot lift, god isn't omni-powerful. How will god solve that problem?
That does not make sense. Since God has power over all matter, there would be no stone that he could not lift. Col
According to logic. It is impossible for him to make something that he has no control over due to him being the creator of all things. This makes your point moot. What's with all this "omni omni omni" stuff anyway? The way you are talking is like you are outsmarting God. Is this what you are trying to do? Col
No, could be possible if god exists and have the forces to do so, but then god is not omni-powerful. I'm just trying to explain that it's logically impossible for an omni-powerful being to exist.
We'll leave the one for the philosophers. Fair enough. I respect your comment. We'll leave it at that. Col
God is omni-powerful because he is only interally limited. Meaning, nothing outside himself can limit him. Man is highly restricted by things he has no control over. God could make a pebble, decree that it would never move and even God himself could not move it. Not because he is externally restricted. But, because he said so. So yes, God can make rocks that he cannot lift. That's why he's God. The question seems like a real thinker because one typically thinks of the rock in terms of size. When you realize size doesn't matter, the answer becomes a lot more obvious. If you believe in absolute free will then we are the rocks that God cannot move because he decreed he would not.
I don't think I have seen Ferret more irritable and disturbed than I have watching this thread.. It always amazes me how people who have some type of religion do not run around and attack those that fear it, dislike it, or are frightened of it. I really have to wonder what makes those fearful so outwardly nuts on the subject.
That's a good point. I don't believe in free will, but that right there makes me admit, reluctantly , that free will is possible.
nice face devilhellz for me God is GOOD if not because of him we don't have air to breath, no sunlight, no water to drink, and even the planet and many big things in this solar system has been perfectly organized, without God we are nothing. all he planned is for the good of his creation. only some people don't see the goodness of God.
