Hi all, I just have a question about adsense's ad targeting methods. The title of my blog site contains the word "ballin". And, despite the fact that the content of the site and the description/keyword meta tags are loaded with internet marketing buzzwords, adsense seems to only want to display ads about basketball. There is actually no other mention of basketball anywhere in the site except the title, but google is still convinced that this site must be exclusively about basketball. Other than meta tags, is there any other way to steer adsense away from this conclusion? Thanks!
Use code below to correct this. <!-- google_ad_section_start --> <!-- google_ad_section_end --> Put code around words you want ads shown for. Or use code below around words you do not want ads for. <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) --> <!-- google_ad_section_end(weight=ignore) -->
Use section targeting to ignore that word, see https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=23168&topic=8441
Thanks for the replies. Since I'm using wordpress, it is more difficult to use the "<!-- google_ad_section_start --> <!-- google_ad_section_end -->" tags. Would it be possible for me to instead use the weight tags like so? <title>blah blah blah<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->ballin<!-- google_ad_section_end -->blah blah blah</title>
i never knew this exist, i am going to try it since i have the same problem with keywords is this going to affect the google indexing crawler or just adsense?
I do actually! I never thought that it would have this much of an effect though. Will adsense gradually train its self away from the basketball ads if nobody is clicking them? I tried surrounding my blog posts with the adsense targeting blocks but it had no effect!
It takes a while for this to take effect. AdSense help says "However, please be aware that we can't guarantee results, and that it may take up to 2 weeks before our crawlers take into account any changes you've made to your site."
