Hi phplb owner, Time for another change in your templates! Are you passing PR without knowledge?? The detail page of your site passes PR to prtool.info, there are many who are totally unaware about this. Look out for the following code in the Link.Tpl file <td valign="middle" nowrap><a href="http://www.prtool.info/" title="PageRank Checker"><img src="http://www.prtool.info/free-pagerank-display.php?u={link_url}&a=getCode&s=Technical" title="Free PageRank Display Code" border="0px" alt="PageRank" /></a></td> PHP: change it as: <td valign="middle" nowrap><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.prtool.info/" title="PageRank Checker"><img src="http://www.prtool.info/free-pagerank-display.php?u={link_url}&a=getCode&s=Technical" title="Free PageRank Display Code" border="0px" alt="PageRank" /></a></td> PHP: I shocked with this kinda link baiting technique from its developers. All other links were promptly give nofollow leaving their own site. Instead making this function integrated, they have preferred to link to their own site for serps and PR benefits! All I can say is bad work! I am not happy seeing this!
Thats always necessary to include nofollow to unnecessary links on a directory to help maximum to its listings. Good find
Nice find sunny. Just checked this with my bidding directory Changed as per your instruction. Thanks for the 'heads up'
but as this is from the script owner and nofollow has been put on other links in the script then we can put nofollow for this too. but we can keep it too its up to you.
If a link is "unnecessary" it should not be there! Are there PR anonymous meetings for all you PR addicts?
just to be the devil's advocate, don't they have the right to do this being the developers of the script? just like the sponsor fields on WP themes, this cld be their form of 'sponsorship' for phplb. However, seems like they did not put a requirement that this line must be kept, so I guess, its up to you to remove it. I feel that it cld be kinda underhanded, but it is their right afterall....
Wp themes are released free and hence sponsorships... here we pay for the script. The question of sponsorship should not raise at all. If the script is free.. its their wish they can add whatever they want in interms of getting sponsors to keep the script free. I hope you getting what I mean!
actually, not true. Not free doesn't mean it cannot come with sponsorship. It cld be MORE EXPENSIVE without sponsorship, u get what i mean? There is nothing that says if its not free, it cannot be sponsored too. It's just something that we have gotten used to. It's just like subsidies. The govt may sponsor a portion, but u have to pay the rest. It cld very well apply to this case....
Actually, having reviewed the link, I am definitely keeping the link un blocked, A link is a vote for another site, if I had to no-follow any link that I have the power to prevent, I would rather delete it all together,
That's a good catch once again Sunny I hope the rest of the links, pages and tools and all the social tools on the details page are not passing PR...
