Max Amount Of Keywords In An Adwords Account

    I have a top secret hardcore intense campaign with a lot of keywords and was curious what the max amount of keywords you can use in 1 adwords account is. I have a bad feeling that I will have to split up this campaign into a million different accounts:eek:

    As moderate as possible, one ad group should be around 75 keywords.

    what u guys talk...

    You can have 55.000 keywords in one adwords account and they maybe extend your keyword limit but only if all other keywords really receive impressions and clicks, but it's easier to set up an new account for this.

    I'll say it again, you can have 1 million keywords in one Adwords account even if eg. 75% of the first 50,000 get no impressions. Ask a Google rep nicely and they'll up your limit and advice you to cut down on the 'no impression' words. 1 million is the most their system can handle, and yes.. I have an email as proof should someone wish to bet say.. $1000 that this is a lie.

    I believe you have to ask adwords staff for permission to open a 2nd adwords account for yourself.

    Actually, the limit is 50.000 keywords and you get warned when your account reaches 45000.

    Yes they extend the limit if you ask.

    You should never dive into a campaign with a huge keyword list. I always start off with a small list, then I add to it if the campaign looks promising. This way, I can gradually compile large, very tightly focused ad groups.

    If you start off with a huge keyword list, chances are that your ad groups will not be targeted enough. Even worse, after spending a week categorising your keywords into ad groups, your campaign might flop. The campaign must prove itself before you invest a huge amount of time and effort.

    For what i am promoting this many keywords is necessary,
    i am going to only start by promoting 25,000 keywords
    (2k in 11 ad groups)

    Sorry dude, but I guarantee this campaign will fail. Just because you CAN generate huge lists does not mean you should. (Especially with Adwords).

    You're doing it wrong.

    I'm sure you could ultimately have a million different keyword trigger phrases in a single Adwords' account...

    ... But the perhaps a better question to ask is when does having too many keywords affect your Quality Score?

    Actually, Google recommends having "20 or fewer" keywords -- they say it just as your start a new AdGroup... right there in plain sight.

    You're only going to start with 25,000 keywords? Good luck!

    Your ad groups and keywords will no doubt receive poor quality scores and you will start paying by the bucket. Not only that, but if your campaign flops, you will have wasted a lot of time and effort. What kind of campaign would require so many keywords, anyway?

    The number of keywords you use isn't important; it's their quality (i.e., how targeted they are) which matters. Somehow, I doubt that you have 25,000 well-targeted keywords.

    That's a recommendation for the number of words in an Adgroup, rather than the number of words in an account.

    You want a small number of words in an Adgroup because your advert needs to be relevant to the keyword (ideally the keyword will appear in the title of the advert).

    Google won't penalise you for having a lot of keywords, but it will penalise you for writing a vague, one-advert-fits-all advert.

    Speaking more generally, you've got to go with the keywords that you think are relevant. There's no point in not bidding on a keyword that you think can make you money, but if you've got a limited budget, you'll have a lot of trouble identifying which keywords are/are not profitable (since none will get significant traffic volumes).

    There's no point in having keywords that get no clicks, and if you've got 25,000 keywords, each costing $0.10 per click, then it'll cost you $2500 dollars just to get one click on each keyword...
