Hi, two questions that I need help with regarding SEO. 1. Is it advisable to have, somewhere on your page, your keyword linked to your site. For example, if your keyword is "digital point search" and your domain is "xyz.com", is it advisable to have a link with anchor text "digital point search" pointing to "xyz.com"? I've seen sites do this, particularly in the footer, what is the advantage? 2. I've also seen sites have loads of keywords in the footer the same colour as the background so they are not visible to users. What is the advantage of this? Thanks, Khalid.
To 1. Yes it gives you a boost in the SERPs for that keyword combination. But be careful, don't overuse it, otherwise you'll trigger a filter very soon. 2. The aim of hidden keywords on your page is to be penalized or even banned as fast as possible, if G discovers it.
There are no advantages for stuffing keywords as mentioned in point 2.. Avoid this technique at all costs
The keyword anchor tag does help, but do not over use. There is not advantage to this at all! You will get flagged by Google and dropped. Instead try to incorporate your keyword with on page text. Example: http://www.proflowers.com/ Notice the text below their footer.
I agree. I try and link to important sections of my site with keywords in the link.....but then again...doesn't everybody?
