Sitewide ads and possible accidental keyword spamming?

Ok, maybe this is silly to worry about this but you know when a directory has space for sitewide links and there is plenty of places still to be filled on their sitewide, so you see something like this:

    Advertise here $2 Month
    Advertise here $2 Month
    Advertise here $2 Month
    Advertise here $2 Month

Could google possibly pick that up as keyword spamming, even though its not intentional, but taking into account that its showing one after the other and sitewide, until their snapped up of course.

I know its only a few words, but its repetitive, what do you think? would you worry about this?

I had never thought about it in the past, until just a few minutes ago when placing a sitewide on one of my directories, and noticing what many directory owners do.

You can do one thing, place a small image instead of text and use "nofollow" to your advertising page (if you have any separate page for it).

    Excellent idea....

Back to topic of repeated links with word advertising; this could hurt and affect seo effectiveness

Pipes, you seem to have a lot of anxiety lately.

But you do see a lot of that kind of repetition, and it's something you probably should go out of your way to avoid. When visitors see it, it looks bad, it kind of rings of desperation I think. And search engines are likely to consider excessive repetition as keyword spamming, although only their engineers can tell what % keyword density they are penalising this week.

Maybe give every link a different title ? But yes it does look bad.. why not go to a b/s/t section n offer your link directly for sale instead of waiting for someone to come your end. ;)

If you are worried about repetitiveness why not just right it once? If you want to show how many spots are remaining just write x spots remaining.

The post by madtay has disappeared from this thread, im not sure how.

    iceberg, good idea

Obelia, i blame the search engines ;) they make me a nervous wreck, lol
I agree, its definately something i feel myself and others should avoid, it does look desperate too doesn't it, when its repeated.

humm, good idea, your right too, i think selling the space quicker and directly will benefit in many ways rather than waiting.

LennyP, absolutely i agree, since yesterday when i first come up against this i just put the text in once for the next available slot on sitwide.

I had not done any of this repeating of words and while placing a sitewide yesterday i was about to dupilcate as i see on many directories, then thought "ah" this is not good.
Any time ive used a template ive promptly removed text like that as soon as ive installed the template.

    Thanks everyone

    Hello..

Best thing i can say is do many of the suggestions that were offered here and I wouldn't worry as the algo has changed so try and blend in with the curve if at all possible. If your sites have disappeared they will return in a week or two like sleek did and im hopeing king does also..

    thx
