I just finished a blog post on that very topic:

Learn SEO - Basic SEO Training

It's set to publish on Monday, but you can have a sneak-peak. Enjoy!

[ UPDATE: I decided to launch it today instead of Monday. ]

Bad advice. Never use software for SEO - it's a cheap shortcut and it doesn't work on the long term. Some of the methods the programs use can get your site banned.

I think SEO Guru does not say "buy or use the software", bur READ the instructions. ;)

For the end of your statement I agree - do it yourself!

Thats the best thing that could have happened.

A Webgeek blog is no place to learn SEO.

You may have inadvertently triggered a security measure on the site. You should have no problem now. PM me if you still can't access it.

Wow. That was a bit rude, and out of nowhere. I'm sorry if you're having a bad day, but no need to take it out on me. :)

Out of nowhere? Not quite, chief. Research the countless times I have proven things you claimed to be fact as 100% false.

I used to read articles and visited some big SEO sites. But newbies may be intimidated by the volume, especially if he/she is VERY NEW.

SEO for newbies could be a help ;)

Well, I just stated the way, I learn it. All books are BS, with rewritten content. :) and yeah you don't have to use the software. SEO could be done well off with FF and some of its extensions easily.

I hear ya. :) I did read SEO Book a while ago (more to see if I was missing anything), and have to say it's probably the only one that isn't BS. A lot of forums have some good threads that provide solid basic guides on SEO.
