It is a successful logo, simply for the fact that the designer sold it for 40000 euro. Would I come up with something like that? Well, no.
The logo was orginally animated but becuase of issues they had about peoples eye can get messed ect they had to get it changed into one color. Well im not happy with it anyway, i spent over an 25 minutes trying to figerout what it is supose to be then i gave up lol. I hate it next time someone needs to tell them about Dp.
£400,000 not euros wasnt it? which is about $800,000 ish. I agree the original logo was better - and more money saving.
Think of it like this, a logo is supposed to automatically make you think of the company/event. And what do this do.... make you think of the Olympic games...... Great logo.
The head of the olympic organizing committee said "wow! thats exactly what I was looking for!" when he first saw this logo... There can't be a bigger proof that the whole olympic organizing team is aesthetically challenged
There is a topic called "7 reasons the world will end in 2012" at General Chat. (Link) I think this logo will be the 8th reason
After seeing what the "pros" could come up with for 400K, some of the UK public took 10 minutes out of their lunch hours to come up with alternatives: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/6722205.stm
^^^ No you cant, all the logos you get hear are very generic and litteral. Your all missing the point of what a logo should be, remeberable, which this is as you can tell by all the comotion its bringing about. You will instantly know when yhou see this logo what it is for, all other logos ive seen for the 2012 games have been the generic black text/english landmark/olympic rings.... very unoriginal.
