Just wondering if it was worth the time, effort and ad space to promote amazon. I know they have a huge selection of products to go in any niche you may be in and it's easy but with the commission so low compared to say clickbank, just wondered if it was worth it? Any opinions?
I run an astore since 7 months now and generated 62item sales worth of 1,500USD. My revenue for these 7 months is 82USD. And i even rank #2 with that astore for my "keyword+store" in google. Still only 80USD in lets say 6 months, so i guess you can do the math. For me its not worth it. I dont promote the store anymore, its still there, but i dont care.

I have only found it usefull where I am tageting the exact item I am promoting. Otherwise the space/return ration is too low for my liking. Sam Mancuso
For a real estate blog didn't seem like it did much for me. But depending on your niche like electronics you can do well. The contextual ads did much better when I ran the ads.
The simple answer is no because there hardly (witha few exceptions) that ever seem to have good things to say about the amount they make from it.
To really see any serious income from Amazon you need to treat it like a real store and not just an additional section of your own site. For example consider even giving your store its own domain and its own design, since the your simple embedding code into the page you can make the site look reasonable proffessional, spend time optimizing your site and even doing some SEO. Next you want to submit your site to a few directories, post on a few forums that might have people interested in that topic (for this I suggest placing a banner for your store in your signature this way your post will not be deleted). So far I am beginning to see an increase in the number of sales with my own store after doing a few of the things I mentioned. I hope that helps, Amazon can work so don't give up.
1 day cookie, 4% commission. What a waste of time. Find the same product(s) somewhere else, like through a CJ merchant, and get a decent commission and cookie duration.
I say it is definitely worth it. Of course I have found it works for me. Some complain about the percentages. If I were pushing electronics I would look elsewhere. The nice thing about Amazon is brand recognition and prices. Converts well across many of my sites as opposed to over priced items that make a higher commission. You may want to look into several of the big box brick and mortar stores many of them have affiliate programs online with better commission structures.
So far, i earn only US$3.20 for year 2007. I am using Associate-O-Matic. It cost me $20 for yearly renewal. It is also taking too much disk space & bandwidth. I find that it is not worth. Is there any other program that i can replace it?
4% commission is probably the lowest commision I've ever seen. If you are promoting books, is there another affiliate program to sell the same books at a higher commission?
Yeah I haven't found a better one either. Some electronics programs only gave 1%. Although they may have a longer cookie length.
