okay, might not be directly related to marketing, but choosing a nice domain is part of marketing too... so here it goes... I'm a photographer, so after running around countless photo websites I decided to run my own portfolio page. I will be uploading photos, plus giving some tips. Right now I reside here: http://wise-ass.deviantart.com/ - I had to show this to director of my program and he was like, wise ass... ehm... so, I could open sandrodz.com - but I don't like the way it sounds... also I was thinking to put photo keyword in the domain itself, but duno... any tips? help?
Using words relating to photo would be wise and make sure the domain name isn't too long our people will forget. Try to use .com extension and if you can't find a name, try using dashes betweeen the words. By using words relating to photo it is less confusing and people know exactly what site they are going to...could be good or bad. Good Luck, Paolee
Why not use your full name, or your name with a number in it. So for instance 88 will refer to 1988. You could also take out the vowels in the word sandrodz and combine this with the previous number which will then become sdz88.com. A five letter word domain, thus easy to remember .
you have a nice picture of China beach that's great.. anyways, simplify the domain so that it's easy to remembered
yeah I like this one... but maybe: sandro-photography.com or sandro-photo.com I'm sandro after all dz is first two letters of my surname, kinda stuck with this after yeahoo mail first suggested it in 97
If you can get the name without the dashes - Get it! Forget the dashed names. If available - sandrophoto.com - sounds perfect.
In the past I used to do alot of work for photographers. A common theme is: yournamephotography.com Remember, most of your traffic will be from links and business cards. I don't think you need to worry about type-in traffic or keywords. Keep it classy. -bk
if i were you , i prefer deviantart.com/wise-ass . have you tried this? this also help you to rank faster
sandrophotographer.com sandrophoto.com , try to avoid hyphens even tho nothing bad on that. You can use any name actually, it does not necessary need to have the word "photo" in the domain, even tho that could be a small plus for you. If i was you, i would of use sandro.com , short, brandable and you can always create a directory called /photo or /photography or /photographer.
sandrophoto.com is a good choice. sandrophotography.com seems a little more professional to me though.
damn I can't find anything good sandrod.com ? arh, I want photo somewhere there... put nicely... I also thought about twistedperspective.com but thats taken
Did you try to add the domain name with the dash in it, "sandro-photo.com". From what I read from some of the expert, adding a dash is actually a good thing. It might even rank you higher in the search engines and is easier to read. If that doesn't work you can try a .net extension, but try to stay away from .org or any of the other extensions. Good Luck, PaoLee
