Viagra.. it's not just for adults anymore.. (REUTERS) Doctors are giving infants and babies the anti-impotence drug Viagra to save them from a life-threatening lung condition even though it has not been tested on children, a magazine said Tuesday. The drug, produced by U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, has already been used to treat a small number of children with pulmonary hypertension in India, the United States, Canada and Britain with promising results. "Critics have expressed serious concern at the fact that no clinical trials have taken place for this use of the drug and at the wide variation in doses used," New Scientist magazine said in its online version. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/07/23/health/main516023.shtml?source=mostpop_story I suppose that 10 years from now one might wonder why there are lots of kids nicknamed "Woodie"
If it works... They've brought back thalidomide because it's great for leprosy Clinical trials are essential but in the mean time limited and supervised use might be justified. It certainly seems to be.

Yeah but who cares about being impotent if the original disease that is being treated will kill you...
If I'm not mistaken long term viagra research also shows an increase in heart problems.. giving it to Children, who may take it as an adult as well is strange.

The drug was originally researched for cardiovascular problems like angina. I guess it's turning out to be a "wonder drug" http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6676585.stm
