I'm aware that Google will not show an exhaustive list of backlinks to my site, however it doesn't show any for me. I know of at least 4 websites which link to me and have done for months, and which have certainly been Googled, but no link is shown when I search link:www.thethingis.co.uk. Webmaster tools gives the same result. I'm sure that I've not been thrown off Google because my pages do turn up in searches. What's going on?
@adamjthompson is right. Please check Matt Cutts Blog for more information http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/whats-an-update/
google updates backlinks once every few months, usually just before the PR update so when u see the backlinks change you can assume there is a PR update to come, wait a month or two and u'll see change
Google concentrates on Quality mate!!not all sites have good PR and tht is the case with your site i guess!!
if that was the case, quality have something to do with links being displayed, then you wouldnt see many links on google, cuz some sites are full of crap if you ask me and they have tons of links showing
Open a sitemaps account you will see most of them ,before that I was saying "huh google is not that good" but when I saw the links on the sitemaps I sait "that's it"
If you have an account in google webmaster tools you can see more backlinks. Google indexed only quality sites and we don't have any idea if which of our backlinks would be counted.
Maybe, The reason Google don't display backlinks is that to prevent showing the competitors links....IMHO
By Quality i meant the Good PR,justified inbounds links, and links from informative, justified and unique websites. If u own a e-commerce website and if u link back a Garment websites, then its of no use because it is not justified. And I stick to my view point i.e "Google concentrates on Quality mate!!not all sites have good PR and tht is the case with your site i guess!!" If u dnt agree, then pls read this article..i think it will be useful for u Google Backlinks
