hmmm worth a read, yet a few points to argue.. The one I would like to point out.. For PR, Quality has nothing to do..its just Quantity.. Mind you for PR only not talkin abt SERPS... And overall.. Its good for the noobs.. Thanks though for sharing..
Content has nothing to do with PR, especially at the launch of a website. Linking types and quantity are what PR only aware of. Additionally, smashingmagazine.com appears more and more abusing information and pouring them on us. Or they are just displaying their abusive capabilities to collect things from around the web. The great majority of us just scan through the article, and some don't even bother to read a single paragraph of it after digging it on digg.com or saving it with del.icio.us, cause' it's just not worth it spending so much time reading the article only for knowning more about something called PageRank? NO. Plenty of other meaningful things to care for. Too much information is disinformation. Lots of articles and pages on the web are just talking about the same things over and over again. Nothing really new.
Interesting article indeed. I am not sure but it seems familiar, I think I have seen a similar article at some other place. Another blog added to my Bookmarks. Thanks for sharing. And why would he be not telling if its his own site?? The owner must be proud of it.
Controversy in any form is the buzz-word of th day. The mre controversy you can create --the famous you become -- Thats the order of the day. I just want to say -- Those people who discredit PR --and does think PR is nothing -to contact me and I'll have a big challenge for them. For the normal wqebmasters -- What is the relation betn PR and SERPs? PR is one of the most important aspects of SERPs. As most of us know ---Google PR is dynamic --rather than static as most --FOOL SEO experts/gurus would explain to their clients to DUPE their ignorant webmasters clients -- PR is ever changing -with the value of backlinks -- But we do not see that PR. What we see is --the STATIC PR that Google data-centres update taking a SNAPSHOT of a single moment. It last for around 3 months. But what we do not see is the DYNAMIC PR that changes all the time with backlinks. I strongly Oppose SEOs explaination of PR not being important to SERPs.
Don't count them, I have seen many post like their. I can't understand why they came to PR related thread for posting against Page Rank
The "informative" part is untrue. Any weight that article might carry is killed by the article being wrong on a bunch of points. Reuben Yau did a nice write up on it here: http://www.reubenyau.com/smashing-magazine-google-pagerank-article-misleading/ The problem is that so many people will see the Smashing article, and never see the corrections, and spread the misinformation as fact (which has actually been going on for years). -Michael
