I am currently planning to run an agressive links building campaign but got some questions, hope you can help me.

First of all, when should I stop? Like right after I get n links per day, how much is still safe? As search engines won't think that I am spamming and what a about sandbox effect?

I don't see why getting a ton of links would hurt you. What is important to keep in mind is who is linking to you. Non relevant sites are not going to help you increase in ranking but getting unlimited high PR relevant links will continuously help to boost your site. As far as when do you have enough, when all of your sites pages hold down the top ten for your target phrases :)

Why do people continue to think this?

Show me proof, and i will tell you the "real" reason why the site ranks nowhere then show you a string of sites domainating their niche without a relevent backlink in sight.

I even ran a control test on this last update, i applied the most irrelevant backlinks to a site i could find and the result was #3 for it's 47.4 Million result keyphrase, only beaten by Wiki and a .gov and the site went PR4.

Well... Basically I haven't searched, just thinked a bit and create tactics.

I will increase links count by 20% every day.

First day I will add only 3 links from trusted sites, 2x PR5, 1x PR6, next day 10x PR4, then ~30 links, next day 50, 70, 100 and then will start increasing it by 20-30% daily :)

No worries, i'm sending you a PM for one of my sites that's #4 from 131 Million results and it has NO backlinks related to the search term. The website itself isn't even about the term, i just made 1 page on it.

Actually i could send you a list a mile long.
