Question about blog update frequency & SEO

I was wondering...It is ok to update our blog like 3-5 times per day right?

Just don't want to get penalized as I think maybe they have some features in place to cancel out the old 'blog and ping' splogs that were prevalent a few years back.

5 updates per day won't get your blog marked as a splog will it?

    thanks.

I don't think so fresh content will damage your serp. Don't worry, just write quality content.

But don't post 5-times in one day and than nothing next 5 days. It is better to use 'Post Timestamp' in Wordpress and publish one post per day.

The only thing I learned is that you have to be consistent. If you aren't consistent then it will really effect your relation with the SERPS.

I was told to post once every 2-3 days just to make sure I can create content every 2-3 days consistently. I now post daily.. but that's because I can make a quality post every day to keep readers coming back..

I think 3 to 4 posts per week is just enough, remember to ping once you add new posts.

Nothing will happen to you, and you won't get any penalties.
It is your blog, and if you update even 100 times a day with UNIQUE content or a big percentage of unique content, Google won't do anything to you.
There is no such rule as 'Update your blog only to a maximum of 3 times a day' or other nonsense.
The more you update daily and constantly - the better and faster you'll get indexed.

Yeh, 3 times per day sounds good. Just look at the top blogs on Technorati - many of them update daily or more, so go for it.

Remember to ping your posts (As bobchrist also mentioned)

If you're updating your blog 3-4-5 times a day you are doing great.
Don't worry you will not get penalized for this.
    Right on the contrary ;)

Is there any tool to pre-schedule blog posts?
    I'd be interested in one.

The more you post, the better.

Of course, if you have tons of content, it is better to preschedule, in case you'll stumble over writers' block or something.

I made on average 10-30 post per day since I got dozens of new contest everyday. What I'm worrying is what happen if I fell sick and not update the blog for a few days or weeks.. Would they consider mine as splog too?

fresh content always good regardless how many times you update per day. Just dont spam same content in many blogs so that your blog should be fine.
