It is so stupid to make enemies within your own community, of course unless they are total dickheads. It is better to network with people who have something good to offer and learn from each others.
It’s not exclusively how much you put into a directory. Some very large directories with millions invested have gone under, remember ZEAL. Having extensive experience with directories is a primary factor. GoGuides, JoeAnt, Skaffe, and WoW were started by former Go.com Directory editors. Most of these editors started out as ODP editors. I always recommend to anybody who wants to start a directory to volunteer as an editor and at least learn the editing side of the business first.
i feel comfortable with ppl that know how to promote the site, and will try to help them out with purchasing links as well...In a free market, ppl that have innovating ideas or know good promtions,it help everyone else learn from them.I know i have learned alot form ppl here at DP and im an idiot..
hello.. Im not intimidated but rather inspired by everyones talents... though im not very happy with those whom wish to steal or copy anothers work as that does not take us (the Web Directory) forward but make copys of copys and we ALL do it in one way or another wether to catch the wave or be recognized for something better then what we know we are.. Uniqueness to the web is what we can offer to differentuate ourselves from the others and those that have a vision will surly prevail and take the web directory to the next level ... I often think about how to be different and it think last night i may have found what will be tomarrows NEW web directory .... just have to wait and see thx malcolm
I agree with you blogmaster and I'm one of them who's been called a total dickhead or worse. What we must do if we are going to get along as a community is to understand that many of us are from different backgrounds and cultures and have different ways of speaking. I've been called an arrogant tit on here god knows how many times but I'm desperately trying not to come over that way, its just me and straight talk. My American cousins here often appear arrogant as hell and cocky to boot but I kinda accept that even though they may seem so far up thier own butts they don't see the sun shine they are really nice people if you ignore the culture thing. Christ, if we can fight wars together why the hell can't we get on in forums like this? It can't be that hard?
I personally don't care where anyone is from. I have family all over the globe. What I like more than anything is competition. A lot of ppl here try to outargue one another, but it's a lot better when we outdo one another.
Have to agree there, I'm forever getting into arguments as I don't tolerate fools or knowalls. Arguing is futile and although I many not have been very 'pc' with arguing like retards I was right, arguing on the net is a waste of time and does make us look stupid. Me, I'm gonna still be super enthusiastic and passionate about my views but will take time to check out if the reply I get is really deserving of a cutting response or if its just a culture thing. I love competition blogmaster, and that's why I'm kinda having fun latching on to phpLynx and thier new script as they are really rattling cages with what they have. Trouble is, many don't see competition as healthy, they see it as a threat and do what they can to eliminate the threat. Sad really.
Exactly ... "Actions" will carry more weight here then just "Words" ... I could care less about where they are from Country of origin is irrelevent.. Coming up with new innovative ideas that will push the web directory forward is what we all seek and something that i hope to accomplish soon enough... PS..... the script thats being used will be irrelevent as thats not what will make it unique... thx malcolm
No more critique from me blogmaster, I learnt that probably the best way to promote is to let the product do the talking, you can't argue with facts. Thanks for the nod on my projects, thier coming.
Finally! A thread with positive comments and the best of all no arguments. It really shows that we can do much better, It does makes everyone feel WELCOME.
I don't think I'd ever get intimidated by someone over the Internet lol. That's just me. But i think you have raised a good point, quite alot of people have been bitching around on this forum and I think the main reason for other members bitching is because of jealousy. Theres nothing to be jealous about of other directory owners, if you have it in you I'm sure you can make just as good of a resource. You just need initiative and patience. No biggy
Sorry about the delay, I had totally forgotten about the new account sign up e-mails. Best of luck There will be some new banners soon, but in the meantime - http://www.linksjuice.com/banners/ Terry
I notice how the 'bullies' made this important thread a one star, guess the truth hurts. I upped it to three though but got a red rep from some no-face saying my posts are worthless, ah well, will still keep posting them as I'm colourblind and red don't bother me. I'm still going to be polite from now on.
Lol i find it funny when you get red repped. I was helping a friend out in a thread and was given red rep Who ever they are, if they wish to spend their day on here being a 'bully'. Let them. It's their time, not yours
You got that one right, what I find even funnier is that if I get a red rep then it means that at least one person has read my thread and take the energy to red me. I think its a deep seated love as roses are red. If only I wasn't colourblind.
same here, I have like 4k+ points and what difference do newbies think their -2 will make? Mine on the other hand count like 25 ... hehe
Is that right, sheeez I'll remember not to red you then blogmaster, now where's my enemies with k's of reps, I know what I'm doing now.. Only kidding, don't think I've ever given a red, can't be arsed.
