Is Google finished doing whatever the hell it's been doing, or do I have hope that my site will bounce back again to the first page permanently? My site has been within the top 5 results (for a crucial keyword) on the first page for years. Over the last few weeks, it has frequently fallen back as far as the third page and then returned to the first page, but only for a couple hours. It had done that a dozen times or so. But what concerns me is that it has been on the third page now for the last 5 days straight.
Now what do you want Google to do? They are constantly improving the algorithms so users have the best search experience....Sorry if the new algorithms don't think your site is worthy of being number 1 anymore I recommend you read this article that was published in the NY Times
Did my question specifically ask for a smartass response? No. If you don't have anything constructive to add, don't respond.
I see some sites that have been gone for over a year listed well in google in last week or so. Sites have been gone and taken off searh engine and now are back. I think they are using some old servers or data because some old sites are listed that i have not seen in awhile. The results have been lousy for some search terms after last 2 updates and alot of people are saying same thing. Maybe google is trying to use some of the old data to make search better.
I added something constructive, I gave you the link to the NY Times article.....I'm sure if you read it, you'll find the answer to your question and many more....
I'm in the exact same thing, however I down to page 8 or 9. However, I 'think' it's probably related to a slew of other incidents that's happened recently, partially involving a 301. I made a couple of changes, hoping that it'll work it's way out. All you can do is keep plugging away....
Actually my site seemed to have settled down...and I am ranking better, but it was kind of scary for 6 weeks.
"Sorry if the new algorithms don't think your site is worthy of being number 1 anymore" He should have left that garbage out of it. The article he quoted provides no real-world information from active Webmaster members of THIS forum. That's what I want, and I'm sure that's what other Webmasters here want. If I wanted to read online articles that are not based on up-to-the-minute info, I'm capable of entering keywords into the Google search box.
Googles results have been pretty messed up recently, I'm noticing the same things one day on the first page the next day not in the first first 100 pages, I think they might be testing some new stuff.
Did you even bother to read the article? Did you note the date? 3 days ago...how much more up to date do you want....How can you learn SEO properly is you can't even take the time out to read something that is very important.... I think we all forget that Google's search engine is for users not Webmasters...we are the one's that have to adapt.....They don't care that your site rankings dropped....as long as the users (ordinary everyday people that are looking for information) are happy, then that's all google cares about.
First of all, I had already read that article BEFORE you posted it. Secondly, a 3-day-old article does not offer up-to-the-minute information and experiences from active Webmasters in DP. Thanks.
my SERPS also dropped but not that much. maybe we have to figure out what's wrong with our SEO idea asap. ^^
