Blink your eyes, Massage your eyes by keeping the palm of your hands (the lower end of the palm) on your eyes.

The posture is very very very important. Make sure that the top of monitor and your eyes are inline with each other.

If your sole purpose is reading, don't read sites with less contrast between the texts and the bg... Also if the font is too small, don't try to read it, just use your browser options to pump up the font sizes like in FF view>Text Size>Increase or "Ctrl +" , And use same glare and protection on your screen, indirect lights may be seldom noticed, but it causes eye strain... IMHO...

Close your eyes for about 15 seconds. Repeat this as often as your eyes needed it.

    take a five minutes break...
then after using the computer, DO NOT wash eyes with water. It could lead to damaging th eye sight or blindness...

I don't know about damaging your eye sight, but you will probably commit suicide in a couple of weeks. It WILL affect your social life, health, brain etc.

I'll explain in Layman terms. CRT bombard the screen with electrons from the tube, it's like a ray gun pointed at your eyes, although CRT manufacturers ensure that protection is done for the users, a small bit of radiation still escapes... and for the LCS, since it only excites liquid crystals to light-up for the RGB colours, then theres no actual radiation, no tubes, just little liquid crystals that get excited and light-up... If you're a gamer, CRT's main advantage is the high refresh rate thats all... and sometimes LCD's have problems with pure black and pure white...

Take a break after one-one and a half hours. Splash some cold water on your face and have cup of black coffee.. :)

Every half hour, look at your finger for 3 seconds, then look out the window and focus as hard as you can on something far away for 3 seconds. Repeat a few times.

I've just purchased one of those "improve your eyesight without glasses" books, and the excercises are already helping my vision.

Had this problems last year. Head would pain at nights. So I got special spectacles for it. You can ask the optician and he will tell you. I use spectacles instead of the anti-glare screen so that I can remove them from time to time as I need to work on Photoshop somtimes and I cannot differentiate between colors perfectly with anti-glare screen.

Just got a LCD recently and it is feeling cool to eyes :)

But now I have another problem. :( My leg joints are paining too much nowadays. So will have to arrange something for that too.

Do you think that getting a filter would be a good idea? The special glasses aren't much of an option since I have to wear real glasses. Can anyone recommend a good one?

Is the CRT radiation really that bad though? Any specific effects?
