Say you have a WEAK PR6 directory, i.e. barely making PR6. How much wld u be willing to spend to TRY to get a PR7? Bear in mind that it is to TRY and not GUARANTEED. So it means, how much wld u be willing to risk getting a PR7?

    Let's share......

Normally the bigger problem is keeping pr7 not getting there :)

I voted for $2-3K. You know I'll need that only;) -- Don't worry --just go and get it:D

@ ! Ask ! -- If you get homepage -sitewide ( Please no footer) listing on PR8 authority site ( only authority)--and then get there permanently --then it is not only easy to keep PR7 --it will rock all the time during update.

Really depends on the authority and number of external links but how much will cost you monthly to keep that kind of link?

I have info of one # $500/m . Will pounch on it after I fully develop contents on my directory.;)

It is an Open Source Site--authoritative site:D --with around 15 OBLs on average.
OBLs of 40/50 may cause Google to check the site manually ( my idea is most PR7+ sites are manually monitored from time to time). But the theory of too many OBLs (upto 25 is acceptable to me) hurting the voting power is not prooved. So it does not matter -to me personally. What matters is a vote from an Authority sites with its full-force (homepage).:D

I'd look else where before I even thought about paying $500 a month for a pr8link. And I agree with !ASK!, the amount of outbound will alway play a factor, whether or it is an authority site does not matter.

Should I get a link from Adobe ? :D Just kidding.

Banless is one of the untiring promoters and I see his site on high page rank websites. Dude I hope to see index-it a PR7 in the future.

Everybody is free to have their opinions.:)

Some sites get PR 6 with PR9/8 backlinks and some sites get PR7 with PR7 backlinks. Nobody can be certain (if they were -then there wouldn't be so much fun:D) -- how G PR algo behave.

I am always fascinated with the behavior of the PR algo.

I am experimenting this time too with one of my directory --that --is online with no listing. I connected it on homepages of 5( 1 PR6, 1PR5, 2 PR4, 1 PR3) sites only. And don't plan to have anymore. I want to see --how much PR it gets or if it gets at all.

After august I'll experiment -with 2 more. One -I'll only list on high OBL (25+) sites and the other with OBLS less than 10 sites.

Its always fascinating playing with Gaygle (as Rob would put it):D

Thanks. I thought I would focus on getting a few more relevant links this go around and then work on the pr later, either way it all adds up. I'm looking at pushing the site to over 5,000 google backlinks this update so we will have to see what happens.

IMO, directory can't get PR7 even if you spend $20K on it.

I would be happy if all my directories were PR6, I would then concentrate on SERP's only, if PR7 ever came that would be great but buying links to try for PR7 would be a very expensive investment and I am not sure it would be worth it.

actually, i kinda agree with both of you. Not totally, but generally. I think with $20k, u can prob get PR7. But it wld be a very expensive investment. $2k-$5k may not even be enough.....

However, i guess if one doesn't try, one will never find out right? ;)

    Yes you are correct

    But

Google is having a eye on directories

I strongly feel that many of the directories should be of higher Page rank

Alive should have been PR7-PR8 but only PR6

This is because if a quality site gets listed on alive ,aviva they can easily get PR4 without much of link building!

I wouldn't spend a dime on that goal. Just keep spending my $ on content, content and did I mention content? Oh and free tools to give away. I'll get there for sure as a result of what I'm doing, it's not my goal though.

Better to ask Chris on how much he spent to get quick PR7 for BWL :)

Correctly said by ASK - It may be easy to attain PR7, but hard to maintain it on PR7 :)
