Is there anyway to find a list of all sites that link to you in google? I thought it was link: yoursite.com but just typing in yoursite.com comes up with more results? So I guess I'm doing something wrong? maybe?
Try link:www.yoursite.com. However, if your site is new it might take time (months) till you'll see links there. Also, google hide the real results there, it shows only some.
The way to find out the closest approximation of the links google sees to your site is to get a google webmaster tools account.
it's the best tool but the update of if does not satisfy me. But it seems to be no better stuf on web
of course more results apear when you search for your sitename instead of link:yoursitename.com thats just normal, people quote your site, or talk about it without using the href tags. its just normal. I think the best link tool is the webmaster one provided by google itself.
The one in webmaster tools is pretty good, however I was under the impression that it still doesn't show ALL the links..... just a much larger portion than if you did a link: command at google. The good side is, you can see a good sample of where G is finding your links, and gives you an idea as to how good you're doing in your linking campaign. On the other hand tho, the tool will still never tell you exactly how GOOD a link is... just that one physically exists. The value will never be known. If I were you, i'd worry less about the quantity of links and whether G found them or not, and go for quality links that you KNOW they will find. Keep hammering away, and you'll do fine.
you can use link operator to find the sites which are linking to you but google does not show all the sites with link operator. you can use yahoo or G webmaster tools to the real data
you can get link: operator to work but google doesnt update links often. another quick way to search is through technorati.com go there put your full url in their search form..you will see how many backlinks you have. i guess it only works if ur blog/website is registered with technorati. thats one crude way..not perfect but atleast gives you some idea
