Strange but true phpld 3.2 is starting to impress me :).

    Hello,
Its hard to impress me for obvious reasons, but after upgrade from 2.0 to 3.2 at www.h-log.com i have noticed few features that i like.
    1. Articles feature (i thought i would not use it but check it out : http://www.h-log.com/index.php?list=latestarticles wrote 2, however they do not look like articles anyways).

    2. After like 1.5 years or so i decided to check dead links etc. and was amazed at validation feature that it even caught this domain : http://www.up4free.info/ and marked it as inactive :p , if was of the belief that it will check for online Status of a domain and not check if it actually has any site on it.

3.Easier to edit/remove links all at once (but i rarely use this feature as got other checking methods for editing and adding links). But still good feature to remove all inactive links if u want. But i will leave all dead and crappy links submitted as inactive hopefully while user submits his site again, will get error its not unique, havent check this feature.

But overall its serving the purpose of being a directory script that can be used. Not sure how SE friendly it is , cause google dropped my domain all the sudden off its search after i got this new upgraded directory going :p... Maybe its the normal google thing that it does to my domain occasionally. Even though not on google for some reason its still getting 440.50 average uniques :). Which is increasing day by day too, maybe cause of DP visitors telling their friends about the directory ...

More features as i explore and like i shall post if anyone is interested that is.

Also its not encrypted and hence was able to get someones help and get few extra features added :D

It must be shocking for few as i am famous for my big mouth :p, but hey what i like i tell, what i do not like i still tell. Cause i am frank (thats not my name though) :p

Yup so far directory seems to work good i would say. Got few extra stats on directory too like who is online stats , total hits daily etc etc. plus good part is i could do it easily as no restriction on code exists and is not encrypted which i like in most scripts.

How easy is to upgrade from phpld 2.1 to 3.2?
Does phpld 3.2 has a deep link feature?
What things do I have to change to upgrade from 2.1 to 3.2?
It would be very helpful to get some information on this.
    Thanks.

    Hello..

    Yes it does look nice...

Just make sure that you can set the characters up so that you get
good quality article writers compared to the average 3 line spammers
that to often call an article a few words long...

    Goodluck with your projects

    thx

    In 3.2 users cannot submit.
We do have a working mod for this, but it is not quite ready for release.
You can see it working on Link Spectacular, a test site.

    @malcomb
The big problem we are having with releasing this mod is the quantity of changes required. Just documenting them takes dozens of pages, so right now, it is possible to get it installed on your directory, but the only way we will do it is by paying an installation fee of $30. That is definitely not the best solution, but it is all we have right now. Hopefully, soon we will either add it to the next release, or find a better way to release the mod to all who want it.

    Hi david,
Why do you need to document them? Release the mod for use with default setup of phpld (aka no mods etc. fresh install of phpld), this way you do not have to worry about documenting the code changes. I can when i have time can probably look at code and start some documenting. So, what is the installation fee for again ? When its a mod most users should be able to install it themselves if its just requires uploading already coded default phpld files? And executing sql ? Might be hassle for noobs but not everyone is a noob.
