I bought a genuine copy of Windows Vista Business- no inexpensive buy. I wake up today to see "Windows is not validated, certain features will not be enabled" What does this include? How about Windows Update. So I get to the site to validate it on Microsoft.com, and they claim the validation tool is offline. What kind of crappy business practice is that? What if my computer becomes hacked, infested, or attacked because of this? I could see a possible lawsuit. I wonder just how long I have to wait...
Isnt there a option to validate Windows. It has instructions with your Manual....top validate the windows.
Yes, it wouldn't let me validate. And when I called microsoft to validate it, the rep guided me through a process that validated it. Next time I started up my computer, it was UNVALIDATED. This really made my blood boil. Luckily the validation program wasn't down the next day and it worked.
so how long did you spend on hold and with the rep that was a complete waste of time?? I would have been peeved for sure too
Well, there was one cool part to the whole thing. When I called microsoft, a machine picked up. It asked me yes and no questions, and then asked me to speak my Windows ID. It was a cool experience to have a machine logically take something like that and validate Windows automatically. Interestingly, the machine said sorry and that it couldn't validate Windows and instead gave me the rep. I waited only around 3 minutes, and he had a fairly understandable accent (there is a change!) The best part was, he had to wait 10 seconds for his computer to load. He asked me how the weather was in my area, and other friendly questions. Looks like Microsoft is a little more polite these days with customer service. Still, I hate calling tech support of any kind. He couldn't pronounce three without me thinking tree or tea. I didn't know if we were taking a picnic by a tree or validating Windows
might have been this guy those automated voice systems are a trip but good luck if the option you need does not exist! I think they're great b/c you can scream at them...something I wouldn't do with an actual person!
lmao, I should have tried the screaming approach. I will for next time. It made me laugh uncontrollably for a second on the pitch change of the machine- sometimes the phrases were funny too. "GREAT! You just gave me the second block of numbers. And how about the third one?!" Ha. And I do believe that was him, he sent me a postcard. God bless.
That is a good piece of what you can do with Photoshop. Seems more like an advertisement for Adobe. Superiority Complex!!! Some morons still think that offshore tech-support-execs are somehow less-human/inferior without looking at their own brain's size! By the way, there is nothing like that over here in India. Your tech support may be someone sitting over here:
In fact, I do have quite the same problem. An update a few days ago which I installed states that the windows I possess is not genuine, and that I should buy a new one. Why's that?
that's happened before to users, actual genuine copies getting the shaft. I suppose you'd have to contact MS and just through the hoops in order to prove your valid copy is in fact real!
you should def look into a mac as soon as I started to try and put new computers on the next work with vista and some of the other computers ran xp more and more of those commercials looked familiar
That validation thing caused real headaches for me. I was trying to get my zune software to work and by instructions of tech support uninstalled internet explorer. When I tried to reinstall IE it said I must validate windows. Gues what? You must have IE to validate windows! Real headache.
YEAH I agree its extremely annoying, I have a legit copy but even then for example if u go through a format it tells u have to validate again and call microsoft to do it!!, which is awful, so I decided to actually use the non-legal crack, even though I have legit, because its far easier then calling them everytime I format or everytime i make hardware changes!! they should forget the genuine thing, cuz someone is always gonna find a workaround we all know that
