Gents, we've gone around and around on this one on this august forum for some time. I would still like to again toss out the general question. Given that:

Industrialization is an entirely recent phenomenon over the course of world history. It is entirely a man made phenomenon.

What structural effects, if any, do any believe this has caused? None, and the earth proceeds apace, regardless of industrialization - a sort of imperturbable mother system? Some? A great deal, man has caused this, and we're screwed?

If it is a man made phenomenon, how then do we account for dramatic climate change prior to man's arrival on this planet?

Here is a nice man made blunder. See what happens when well intentioned moonbats seek to create a better world.

Jeremy, but you are missing the question. I sincerely ask: with industrialization being an entirely new, and entirely man made phenomenon, what long term effects, if any, do you believe we have caused? I leave the option open to "none."

    Environmental? Negligible at best.

I think we have done more to adversely affect human health through industrialization than we have done to affect the environment. Everything from people getting hurt by industrial machinery, to those suffering illnesses as a result of chemical or other industrial related contamination.

I'm not talking about pollutants alone, but directly prolonged exposure on the job.

People seem to care more for the environment and animals than the do for people. People you can help...

Honestly, I do believe the earth is warming as a result of what humans have done.

But due to people trying to shove "GREEN THIS..." "GREEN THAT"... & "IS IT SUSTAINABLE?" down my neck, I am now 100% for GLOBAL WARMING!

I intentionally leave my lights in the basement on. I leave my cell phone charges plugged in. I floor my gas pedal in my car every chance I get. I run my air conditioning in my house with the windows open.

Is there anything else I could be doing (that doesn't require much effort)?

I needed that.. Seriously.. Sometimes you crack me up!

And here I've been doing the opposite. Leave all the lights off, installed fluorescent lights everywhere. Hell, we've even moved our hosting facility to the green side of things.. All new dedicated servers have Green power supplies...

I look at it from the money side as well... If people would shove the green down your throat by saying, hey, change every bulb in your house to fluorescent and save $30/mo. on your electric bill... That might make more of a difference than blowing off at the mouth with this GC crap....

Yeah, I saved $30/mo. just by using fluorescent lights! We've seen an 18% reduction in power usage as a result of going to green power supplies in our data center. Oh btw, I use more than one sheet of TP...

Save the planet? Or Save my wallet?

    Farting I guess...

THATS THE SPIRIT! Im so glad to hear!:D

Yes there is, invest in China and India, China has just as many people as entire Europe. so does India. They will go of like bombs, not many people have cars right now, but its starting to come. Soon the gasoline consumption will grow with 400%:D

You can also move out to a small town, things are more runed with fossile fuel. Hospitals on the countrysides often have generators running on gasoline. :D

I cant wait till the day I wathc the flooding of New York while masturbating.

You can be serious and laugh at the same time. Life is too short to take everything so serious!

Well I am so illiterate that I cannot hold a pen properly.

But yes I have heard that this global warming will melt the ice on poles and the water level will rise and all the other things related to it.

On the other hand I have also heard that when a volcano erupts it send 2000 tons of dust particles and other chemicals in the atmosphere. Which makes a coating on the stratosphere and thus deflects the sun light. Overall it will decrease the earth's temperature and if that happens we all will be buried under ice like that Ice age movie :D

So on one hand it is going hot and on other it is going to turn in ice.

I think nature has its own ways.
