How can I know if the site I'm linking is banned from Google or not? As from last 1 year one of my site was around 3rd to 4th page on one specific keyword. Recently I've added link exchange with some 4-5 sites. After 3 days, my site ranking on that special keyword goes directly to 12th page?? so I suppose may be one of that is banned from Google!! Or any other possibility to go down dramatically?
It´s difficult that by linking to just 1 or 2 banned sites your site can get penalised. The positions after the 3rd-4rd page jump quite a lot. There are other reasons why your positions can drop, ie: your content didn´t change over a long time, you didn´t get new back links for a long time... Anyway, you can see if a site is banned by checking if the domain is indexed in Google (considering that is not a new domain), and by checking its back links and PR. If the domain is not new (you can check the age here: http://www.webconfs.com/domain-age.php) and the output of your queries is negative, the domain is banned.
thanks for info... but as far as content is concern everyday my site is having fresh content, I think that is the only reason I got the rank so far. I've checked for couple of domain. still need to check for all the link exchange
Hello, As I can see, Google serp is moving these days, wait for a couple of days/weeks. One of my site gone of Google, the key word is wait and wait
maybe the others sites are just working harder to promote their sites to get up in the serps lol, i dont think linking to banned sites hurt you, dont know how to find if a site is banned, see if its indexed or not or with PR i guess
a lot of factor to classify if a site is banned from Google like *grey bar *not index * No Inbound links But in terms of linking it's a lot of time if all possible ways to determine is you gonna do... the Simplest way is to know if the site is index site:www.yourdomain.com that's it...
I seemed to have a similar problem. I was in google page 1 or 2 for 2 specific keywords and today my site disappeared... I am not sure what I've done wrong altho' I my site pages are still indexed. Is putting a link on FFA a crime in the google eye? I have recently purchased submission to a few hundred directories form DP but I noticed the member has used FFA to put my link on it... I am not going to mention the member's name becos' I still need to investigate further and get my evidence together before I go public but i keep getting emails saying my add has expired when I never put any link ad! So to whom it may concern, I am watching you. You can't trust anyone on the internet. I have met 1 guy in DP so far who I trust and a great help....!
Just link your site to good relevant content , never to sites for link exchange just for that ! let them link to u , using free directories and so on backlinks: always good , preferred with keywords , from high PR site's Links: only to relevant good content , never to blacklisted , spammed , linkfarm kind of sites for you will get penalized
No it is not a crime to have a link to your site on a FFA page, but it is not recommended to link from YOUR page TO a FFA site. This could hurt your rankings. On the other hand why posting on FFA? It's of no benefit at all for you. The only effect it has is that your mailbox will be filled with offers from FFA owners.
Thanks Monfis on your first respond. On your second respond...if you read my thread, I didn't post an add on the FFA sites - I know they are useless. I bought directory submissions offered by DP members but I have been getting emails in my junk email address about my ad on FFA sites which I suspected came from this supposedly directory submission services. Thanks. W
No it is not a crime to link to FFA however it can hurt you as Google does not like those type links. Also you hurt yourself buying directory links, as Google has sought to devalue the score of these links. Purchasing links to effect keyword ranking or PR is against the Google webmaster guidelines. Anytime you build links artificially you run the chance of having those links devalued as this is not the method of links Google feels you should engage in. Best links are one way in nature and built by others due to something you have of value.... Peace
Statement is NOT correct... the web directory wether or not you like or not still counts as a vote just like any other site as long as it is in the proper catagory and in quality directory then sometimes it can be more powerful then another site thats relevent.. Google has not devalued anything.. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769 When your site is ready: * Have other relevant sites link to yours. * Submit it to Google at http://www.google.com/addurl.html. * Submit a Sitemap as part of our Google webmaster tools. Google uses your Sitemap to learn about the structure of your site and to increase our coverage of your webpages. * Make sure all the sites that should know about your pages are aware your site is online. * Submit your site to relevant directories such as the Open Directory Project and Yahoo!, as well as to other industry-specific expert sites. I suggest you get the story straight and stop hatin the web directory as it IS and WILL continue to be the most effective way of building backlinks as its done by human reviews... thx malcolm
thanks for info... I've deleted all the outbound links except two for which I'm damn sure as they are PR5 and also have cache on Google.
you can do a simple search on google as site:yourdomain if no results are from your domain then you're banned
