Yawning is an interesting thing. It is a common belief that people yawn when they are bored, or yawn when they are tired, and although that is true, this is not the main reason people yawn. Usually, people yawn because of a lack of oxygen. Also, some fun facts about yawning... Athletes yawn before participating in an event, and most yawns last for about six seconds. Still, we do not have much in depth knowledge about yawning because yawning is not that interesting a subject to research into. Hopefully in the future we can learn more about yawning. Yawning is involuntary, just like blinking (maybe not just like blinking, but it's similar). One thing people do know about yawning is that fetuses (in the womb) yawn at 11 weeks old (or so the research says). Why should we learn more about yawning? No particular reason, but we don't necessarily need to know about stars located 600 light years away but we do. If you ever want to learn more about yawning, search Google or perhaps one of the largely inferior alternative search engines. How many people yawned before/during/after reading this?
Yeah, the part about the lack of oxygen is true. I usually yawned at least twice before my event during track. People would mistake that as me being tired though
I yawned the first time I read this post... not the second time! Ah, of course it's involuntary.. unless you fake it (to express bordem lol). Yawning isn't too bad.. get's annoying sometimes.. but microsleeps, now that's where it gets weird!
I actually made this up, cause I read on About.com if somebody reads about yawning, they will yawn, so I just typed up a post and tried to include yawn as much as possible. So yep.
I was about to say. Not only that you often start yawning when people yawn around you without realising.
A psychological thing? (subconscious I'm assuming) How does that work Never learnt about it yet but it is fascinating. Now that it is revealed I don't think it would work as much eh?
Actually, on About.com it says, "You will probably yawn while reading this", so I was thinking if I was going to yawn or not, and then I did. So it doesn't matter if you are aware of it, but for this, I just thought it would be fun for you to find out at the end.
i love it when your ina quite room, and you yawn, then suddenly you will hear lots of other peopl do it as well
