    IT's okay, I'm not a huge fan of the text background however... you need to add a stroke/border (2 pixels, black) around your text on the right so it can be more legible.

    It's quit empty,and the banner is usually what 'heads' the website.Mostly people have a tendency of being attracted by the banner and of course later on they easily predict the content,which is done in a timeframe of less then few seconds.Your banner should show some significant sign,describing your blog/website and its content.

    Example:narutofan.com <-- By just looking at the banner of the website,you can easily tell its a fanbase site,which will more related to cartoon/anime.

    the illustrations is cool but im not digging the background or the text for that matter, it's definitely got potential though. a good starting point just could use some minor changes in my opinion.
