I was thinking it would be interesting to hire staff to submit new content to your website. In exchange, you would offer them a certain percentage of Adsense revenue. That is, at the end of each month you tally up who has contributed what and give them an appropriate percentage of Adsense earnings (Keeping some for yourself, obviously). Has anyone done this before? Have you been successful, or run into any troubles along the way? Thank you. I am keen to test this idea out.
create one site like http://www.technorati.com/ then your staff dont want put content blog posters content will reach at your site.
every adsense rev. sharing site is based on that concept. You need to have a fool proof system though.
You're going to hire staff and pay them from Adsense revenues? Would this be different from hiring staff and paying them from all revenues like most businesses do now? It does not matter to the staff how you earn money to pay them As long as on payday they get paid, I doubt they care where you get the money.
Cool, it's an interesting idea. Especially considering that if you offer staff a percentage of profit, there is nothing to lose should the site not become profitable. Sorry leandar I didn't quite follow what you said there. I will re-read it a couple more times though alemcherry: When you say fool proof, how do you think this could be exploited? Assuming you offer only a percentage cut, I would have thought there would be no potential issues, so I would like to hear your opinion. Sem-Advance: You are right Also, from a business perspective, would I need to register as a business to avoid legal issues, or is it legal to start a system as mentioned without any 'papers'? (Maybe that question exceeds the scope of this forum).
Well I would say you would have some tax liability issues but I am a search marketer and as such not qualified to offer legal or accounting advice but I am sure you know who to contact to determine what you would need. As long as everyone earns wages the same way, you could use them as 1099 contractors under US law.
might be hard to keep your staff from giving themselves a 'raise' by clicking on the ads when nobody was looking... it's tough to find good help these days..
Read my mind. I did some Googling and it seems there are some tools to prevent this. For example http://www.adlogger.org/ <- I believe this logs IP's of those who click ads. I could keep a database of staff IP addresses updated from forum posts and whatnot and cross check it against that ad logging script every now and then.
The danger is contributors clicking to increase their revenues. You would be safer with Commission Junction or CPM ads.
