Every day when im browsing the DP Market Place i see the same old CRAP. ...Automated Blog Huge Potential.... ...Great Site for sale (made$10,000 a month. yours for $100).... ...Beautiful Blog (premium domain)..... Lets look at Automated Blog Huge Potential: It always the same WordPress with they Smart RSS Plugin feeding from Google news and looks like CRAP And then there Great Site for sale (made$10,000 a month. yours for $100): Again this is some MFA site that COULD make you 10,000 a month but will probably not. If a site was making you 10,000 a month would you sell the secret for 100. I think no. and the Beautiful Blog (premium domain): Great you now how to install blog software and find themes on the internet. And whats with EVERY Domain being a (premium domain). www.footballandspotstalk.info IS NOT Premium. Stop spamming it.. So yea im ranting here... whats the solution.. There needs to be an overhaul for rules for selling stuff on DP. ESTABLISHED SITES should be in the Sites Section... Not sites that have been up for less than a week. Not Scripts for Sites... BUT ESTABLISHED SITES... if theres no Content then its Just a domain... that goes in the DOMAIN section.. MFA sites = Content or Services. Mabey Themes should be Coded and Uncoded. These are some of my thoughts... more will come as i Ponder... but whats your opinion on these matter
Why would that be? If people are willing to buy them then thats their business. Who would police these new rules? I do see your point though and it goes to show, people will buy anything.
I donest matter if People are willing to pay for them.. if there willing to pay for then in the Sites Section... they will pay the same in the Content section.. Im asking for more organization please. more harsh for people bumping please. just to weed out the crap
Sorry I miss read what you posted. Sure the Buy/Sell is already split into different sections and most people don't have a problem getting through them. Shouldnt you've posted this in Feedback & Suggestions and not General Chat?
I don't know, I think the members deserve the right to advertise whatever they want no matter how bullshit it sounds. I would understand if no one would buy, but I always see those type of threads with people interested in buying.
maybe the solution would be to split the sites section into something like turnkeys, blogs, established (under 1 year), established (over 1 year) and premium (sites with a $5k plus asking price). then if you never wanted to see another blog for sale you just don't go into that section.
Theres already too many categories. More categories means more time weeding through junk. If there are junk posts then people should report it. I think there is more of a problem with scammers operating on DP.
I'm all for more categories also... charging a fee for listing is an option, but i really don't think that would help much because only a high fee would weed out the junk... and i dont think good DP members should be required to pay a large fee to sell their sites
Too right. But what're you going to do? It's how people market. Out of the 1000 people that read the ad, 10 of them become suckers.
This is why the serious sellers go to Sitepoint to sell their sites. If you check their marketplace, it is divided into Premium Sites For Sale Established Sites For Sale Turnkey Sites For Sale It is easy to navigate and not be sidelined by "junk" you are not interested in - the Separation of Turnkey into its own section has made it much easier to navigate for eg. Just so that this doesn't become a sitepoint vs digitalpoint thread, do checkout sitepoint's marketplace and see for yourself the difference. One can always learn from the competition
I've been gone for a just a couple of months and have noticed a large increase in the amount of junk being sold in there. I have to fish through it all to find *real* sites (which actually are established and making a real profit and will continue to into the foreseeable future)
Having more categories won't get rid of the junk. Take the sample categories mentioned a few posts before. - turnkeys - blogs - established (under 1 year) - established (over 1 year) - premium (sites with a $5k plus asking price). take the example websites you have mentioned. - Automated Blog Huge Potential: - Great Site for sale (made$10,000 a month. yours for $100): - Beautiful Blog (premium domain): lets put the websites in the categories. Cat blogs | Automated Blog Huge Potential: Cat premium (sites with a $5k plus asking price) | Beautiful Blog (premium domain): Cat Established (over 1 year) | - Great Site for sale (made$10,000 a month. yours for $100): This only categorises the junk not get rid of it. Admins will end up having more categories to moderate.
The categorisation works on Sitepoint. Can't see why it cannot work here. If you make all rss type blogs classified as turnkey, your problem is solved. Note that guidelines will need to be made and followed to make this process easier but it is doable. Also, being in the turnkey section does not mean that you won't get decent bids.
What he is trying to say is that having a turnkey, established and premium will make it easier to find an established site (which is getting hard to do). Having more categories doesn't make it any harder (100 categories with 1 thread each, or 1 category with 100 threads ... requires the same amount of moderation). It makes it easier to find what you are looking for, which for most people are not automated blogs
This is why I use sitepoint for buying and selling stuff. It's the one thing SP does much better than DP.
I would like to say... I received an Infraction for this post... Not mad.. Good job mods you put it in the correct cat. Can you start paying attrition to the Market place and not just general. If I got points for seeing people breaking the rules i would be damn near the top. But instead they just shurg off or skip that section when their modding....
