    She..

And: I didn't see it but Prilep I hope you were joking because that's would be a huge excess!... not true at all.

Maybe we need a massive ban day.. (would be a short term solution though, but it'll definitely add a scare). Can we report these type of members? I have a few in mind. If anyone thinks I should be added, go for it :p

Try to keep up here. It might help if you actually read what I posted instead of continuing to defend your hypocrisy... You are hardly a poster child for "quality and integrity", are you?

I don't need the sig links at DP. That's not why I post here and it never has been.

Unlike you, I'm not deriving any in come at all from my posts. I haven't sold signature links, avatars, or location URLs to anyone. If I make 50 cents a year from AdSense sharing, I'd be surprised.

So what benefits do I get from posting? PageRank from the links? Please... If you still believe that, you need to take a large leap forward from 2004.

Advertising? Again, please... if I was posting for the advertising benefits, I'd be posting on as many psychology forums as possible, not at a webmasters forum.

And the bottom line you still haven't bothered to address: Are you also going to suggest banning avatars and location?

Speaking of which, is that your site in your avatar? How much did you get paid for that?

Actually, we should really have regional versions of such polls, hottest chick on DP from Mumbai? :D

Back on topic, webmaster-related sites are the ones that benefit the most from signature links here. So if it was me being treated by any of those sites linked to from minstrel's signature, my time would be better spent endorsing them on other mental help forums if it was signature links that I sought.

I agree, I actually don't even know you to well, But I remember when I joined about 14 months ago, You always have had a lot of positive things to say and you kinda of "branded" yourself into the members that I remember here.

There are also a lot of other members here as well that have done the same thing

I think that This forum Needs to go paid. Simple as that....

Yea - Not everyone will like that , But even a $4.95 per month fee would clean this place up FAST!!!!!!!!

Shawn could even donate the money to a charity , just to prove he is not doing it for the money

But you would be surprised how fast the spammers, and jokers would leave ..over $4.95

My biggest question is "why does everyone thing More people the better"

I have to agree this place is becoming a posting dump fast

GC , P&R and so many other areas are just filling with NON sense crap

Really - Once again its a WEBMASTERS FORUM....

If you need advice about getting laid, penis size.....I think there is pllenty of other forums on the net for the

Shawn really needs to start a small fee to weed out the scum......

    ITS call "subscriptions"

I use it on my forums,

All he has to do is set up the subscription and the way VB works is as soon as the user pays it "upgrades" there user status in real time :)

    Simple as that :)

Sundaybrew: Excellent idea. Even $40 would be reasonable. DP has many benefits that are priceless.

Zerosleep: It would have to be an automated membership thing... very possible

    1) Quality over quantity is the best way to go.. I've seen a major forum stop accepting members because they were growing so fast and they only accept members through invitations from reputable members, we can do this to. The model would be: thefashionspot[dot]com :) Just an idea..

(P.S: Before a new member is accepeted the invitation would have to be justified with a reason why this member should join.. and how they can contribute to the forum)

*** Preventing spammers AND scammers and gaining good quality posts and contributors at the same time*** (which is the goal, yes?)

    2) ALSO: An idea from V7n forums. For members who are not active for.. lets say X month, signature links will become inactive. This would be another way to prevent people from mass posting and just ditching the forum once their signatures have been indexed.

It would be great if people could be rewarded here (yes, I'm guilty: signature links) for those who deserve it and punish the pointless spammers. I think we can help get back DP on track if we fixed it up a bit in a different direction..

No kidding :p I mean there are tons of "cheapos" here  it's just draining the quality of DP. This would also prevent people from posting those cheap job offers that are ridiculous. I feel like DP is becoming the hotspot for outsourcers :p (okay it's a different issue)

But there are also other things needed to be done :) (edited my post above).

I wouldn't mind paying $3-5 a month for the service this forum provides. It brings me in a fair amount of revenue each month anyway.

I would. It's a matter of principle to me, not money. I don't frequent forums like WebmasterWorld that require you to pay to generate content for them. To me, that's like saying, "I'd like you to wash my car. Please give me $10 for the privilege."

That is a good point. Especially in a newbie's point of view..

Since over 50% of them hang out there :p and only there. But we still need that community feel though? GC can be removed but underground can be kept to keep the community feel of DP (since posts here aren't indexed anyways, there is no benefit to posting in there for spammers)... I'm out of ideas:eek:

    or a mass banning

I think I already answered that... twice.

Ban links to websites not owned by the member... anywhere... sig links, location, avatars. If you don't own it, you can't post it.

DP already bans affiliate links in posts. This isn't any more difficult. If there's any doubt whatsoever as to owner, you make the member prove ownership - there's no reason to add any more work for moderators.

And anyone who posts about buying or selling sig links, avatars, or location links gets an automatic 30-day ban. Repeat offenders get a permanent ban.

I thought on this and think this is really an honest solution. But how would this be implemented? How would moderators be able to know what sites are owned by you and which ones are not?

That's what whois is for, no?

And if for whatever reasons you have a hidden registration, too bad - you can't post it.
