    Hi,
You can try xooArticles Software. Free installation and support. It's quite unique as it allows you to create subitems aka subprofiles. Take a look at the demo.
It's full featured solution that can be used as an article directory, blog system or articles site.

Article Friendly in my humble opinion ... it's only $49.99, and it's always being added to and the updates, support and addons are free for life. We are now coming out with an incredibly fast article submission script that will (of course) be free for all AF owners.

AF has all the freatures of all the other scripts, and a few originals :)

    best,

    Jan

Well, it's encoded, so you can only change a few template files, and you are stuck with the powered by link back. Plus, it's had the same bugs for several years now that have not been fixed, like the author confirmation bug, email bugs, pagnation bugs ect. Other than that, well .... it's free ;)

I have tried several scripts or tried the demo, maybe some I didn't play too much, but maybe it can help you a bit:
    - ArticleMS, good structure, pretty easy and many important features implemented in admin section, although still not as complete as if we compare with paid ones, but for free script it's really worth.
    - sNews, if you like to play with php things it's a nice one, you can put some available functions in your template, but if you need more you will be likely ended in confusion as you need to merge the admin and frontend in one template.
    - phpcows, more suitable for news site (not article directory) but since it's similar, I think you can do it anyway. The script has intensive template administration, actually it's impressive on templating. It's not free, but for $100 I think they have the best script.
    - echoarticles, it's not free but you can't buy it either lol. It seems their site is already dead, but when I played the demo I was impressed, almost have all the features I wanted without being too complicated. Too bad their site isn't active anymore, even if you can buy it, it means there's no support.

Now, I'm using ArticleMS, there's some minor bugs but I think it's the most complete script among the free ones. Hmm... can anyone here suggest me a script like echoarticles? maybe they have changed the name?

Ah yes, I've seen xooArticles, pretty good, well structured and neat codes too and seeing you're very eager to give support it certainly makes the buyers feel safe.

Okay, that's the good things, now here comes the cons :p, I think the script still has a lot things to be improved, for example when I was looking for user and group permissions, I couldn't find it. I also couldn't find any decent templates to be used except the default one. There are other things but I think I don't need to say all of them here. But I'm sure when you guys develop this script further, it can be a script among the best ones currently available on the net. Wish you good luck! :)

thanks for your positive feedback about xooArticles :)

yeah, we will improve the script more and more . in our next version there will be 3 templates. The script is quite new and we are open to any feature requests, design integrations, etc.

You can offer a design to be integrated and the modification will be done for free
