When I first started article marketing I definitely wasn't aware of the fact that targeted certain keywords could get my article in the top 10 rankings for those keywords..."bum marketing" is something I wish I had known a lot sooner...
Travis Sago seems like a decent bloke, and his "Bum" techniques do work for many, but...the ROI is pretty low considering the time involved IMHO. His list is less spammy than most, so it's pretty decent free info. About USFreeAds: I began experimenting with these nearly a year ago, and they do get page rank with Google if you pick an appropriate long-tail keyword. The problem is, the google results page will very often take you to the USFreeAds DIRECTORY, not your specific ad, so you get extremely little google traffic to your actual ad. Which kinda defeats the purpose, eh? Go for Ezine articles. Google is gaga for them.
I've continued to use Bum Marketing and I've found a few key points that I'm going to share with you. Firstly ezinearticles seems to be much more effective than some of the other popular article directories. Firstly because your article is seen more within the article site itself due to its popularity. Also the fact that google loves ezinearticles. I can very often get my article ranked high in google for the keywords I use when I submit to ezinearticles. Another point to make is that I don't recommend using those free article submission services. This is because google might penalize you for duplicate content. If you wish to submit to two or three of the good article sites then I suggest you put in slightly different articles to each one. I'm not sure how much you would need to change an article so that it wouldn't be classed as duplicate content. Any suggestions? I would just like to ask how effective is US free ads? This is one of the sites suggested by Travis that I haven't tried out. It is called Bum Marketing because apparently any bum off the street can use the methods described by Travis. Thanks Peter
I just wanted to thank you for posting that link. The free course he offers really cleared up some things. Definitely worth the trouble to read through it! Thanks again!
It does work both for nice quick traffic and for long term rankings. I used it for a flash-only site and it has helped it rank for many keywords in a short period of time.
????? BUM marketing has not been released long enough to say that it helps build long term rankings (6 months 1 year and more). Being it uses article marketing it would be hard to believe it drives traffic quick since it takes at least 3 months for Google to count and score the articles. I would love to see some of the keywords your flash site ranks well for since Google does a horrible job ranking flash sites I would love to see some proof. Any other hype you care to post?
I've been doing this for years without knowing (basically because I had no starting capital for websites etc). And only recently have i seen the power of affiliate links in blog posts... for example i did a post on a poker website and posted an affiliate link. 67 downloads + signups from that affiliate link.. and all from a blog post. This really works..Don't expect to make too much at first though because money makes more money..
I am not hyping anything, settle down. You wrote "BUM marketing has not been released long enough to say that it helps build long term rankings". I am not talking about "bum marketing", per se, as in the exact program and methods the site promotes, merely article marketing which has been around for a long time. The keywords I targeted are not extremely competitive and the site I was promoting already had a decent pagerank and many quality backlinks. It did not, however, have ANY content indexed as it is all flash and did not rank well (or at all) for anything. Article marketing does work. When used in conjunction with other marketing methods, it can be very powerful and articles on several article sites can achieve top 10 rankings in a short period of time (within 1 week of publishing), deliver some decent traffic, and help gain additional backlinks from other sites picking them up. Articles that I have written and sent to article sites get great rankings in Google within the first week or two, then drop lower. Then the site it links to pushes up. I realize there is dynamic scoring, but I can also analyze traffic from them and additional backlinks that they gain. Continual efforts WILL help with long term rankings. I am not saying minimal efforts will. Obviously for some sites and keywords, you are better off spending your time in other areas. For certain niches, you can attain great results with article marketing though.
