I think its ok, everyone has the right to life and die however they want.
In Switzerland its allowed, lots of Brits and Germans only visit for that reason.

I don't see the point, being not allowed to die in dignity. Why should someone suffer for no reason...

Yes, I agree with it 100%. If you had a pet that was suffering pain with some incurable illness you'd have it put to sleep. Why should people be forced to suffer when the same happens to them? Providing the person concerned is of sound mind and has given consent....why not?

We had a relative about a year ago that had some severe health problems and made it clear that when she was no longer able to take care of herself she would rather die. Towards the end she was in the hospital supported by a respirator for two months with no chance of coming back. She wrote on a piece of paper that she was ready to go, and we had the respirator removed and she was gone in about 30 minutes. That was a very hard thing, but kinder to let go sometimes. So if someone has a disease or sickness that has debilitated them, they have virtually no chance of recovery and they would like to go then I believe it is ok.

    ON THE OTHER HAND...
I thought I read some weird book about a futuristic world (cannot remember title). It was about some futuristic world where they had suicide parlors and anyone could just go in and get a lethal injection. I can't remember, maybe the world was so overcrowded the government didn't really care. And there would be all kinds of healthy people going in. Even people just going through a temporary depression, bad day or whatever. That would seem kind of sick. In that case, I think it would be there right to kill themselves if they want but I wouldn't support it.

Thanks. We miss her. My sister and I did not realize it but before she died she had wrapped up some christmas presents (she celebrated christmas) for us and hid them in her closet. So we were given the presents at christmas and got to cry all over again. But if I were in the same situation, I would be ready to go. So I feel it was the right thing.

Assisted suicide? Why bother getting help with it when you can just shoot yourself in the head? I don't really see the point.

Not everybody can choose, someone that's immobile for example.

Personally I don't have a problem with it, I'd rather it was done correctly and painlessley by doctors rather than a friend family member having to make a decision and then having to live with guilt.

If i believed it was what they wanted & there's a good reason behind it then i would assist (if it was made legal).

If say, my partner was incurably ill, suffering constant pain and she asked me to end her life.......... I believe that I would do it.

Yes definately, if someone is in terrible pain then it would be the kindest thing to do. Like I said though, it's far more humane for a doctor to be allowed to do it.

If someone wants to die, why not? It'd be more cruel to stop them. Besides, that's one less person to pay tax for. ;)

Yes I know one person who was suffering from mental pain.He had everything but mentally unstable and was begging for people to kill him.

His parents would tell him to believe in God, but its easy to tell others to believe in God, but when you go through it you know its not worth the faith.

Its reallynot. There are a lot of people out there who need help to kill themself andI tell you, sometimes giving someone death is much more valuabl than giving life.

I KNOW about the god shit and all but really I know that sometimes people can feel too desperate and even after years of help they stll want t die so guys please lets start a campaign to assist wiling suicide.

I know there are people who will take advantage of it and get their old parents o relatives killed for property issue but its worth it consideting 1 day seems like a 1000 years fir these helples souls.

Mental issues are a lot different, firstly he's not in physical pain, secondly he's not terminally ill. Thirdly with help he'd recover. I don't think anyone but Hitler would argue that mental patients are candidates for assisted suicides.

I second the motion. Is there any country that allows euthanasia (mercy killing) for mentally unstabled person? Haven't heard of it eventhou (euthanasia) is my thesis on my college days. :D
