Was hacked. Lost over $1,000. You could be effected also!

Well I was away in the Navy for the last month and I noticed that I wasnt getting any submissions to my directory network for the last 3 weeks. It was a concern of mine because normally I would get quite a few.

Well thanks to terryuk who PMed me that something fishy was going on I went in and checked it out. Took me 2 hours because of my crappy connection to even view my admin panel but this is what I found.

Someone got into my account, server, or something and changed some of my admin settings around. The biggest one they changed is the paypal ID that they payments go to.

Well easy calculations figured I lost over $1,000 and whoever submitted to my site I deleted the submission because payment wasnt received. If that was you then all you need to do is PM me the email address that the payment was sent to and I can add your link. Or you can dispute it with Paypal and get your money back.

Not sure what I am going to do yet or even if I can do anything. Thats the reason I wrote the thread is to get some of your ideas!

PS. The site is fully operational now if you want to submit.

I had no clue about it when I was deleting them. I always get paid submissions but people dont pay. Just figured I was getting spammed with submissions without payments so I was deleting them as usual.

You're the guy with the 30 something dir. submission, right?
I wanted to submit to those a week ago, but I had a lot of work and forgot about it. I spent this months funds on Alive and a few more expensive dirs, but I'll let you know when I submit next month, just to be sure everything is ok.
Good thing I forgot. You should start a thread in the "directories" section, too. I hope everything will work out ok.

Well since they didn't pay to your Pay Pal ID, when they do a chargeback the ID they paid to, they will get screwed, not you.

I agree the buyer gets screwed. Thats why I am trying to get the word out so people can get their link or money back. So was thinking if I told paypal if they could refund every payment that was sent from my site to that paypal ID.

    wow..... that's a new low.

how abt emailing all buyers to demand a chargeback? If its not 60 days yet, they can still raise an appeal to paypal. Then follow on with an official letter to paypal, with supporting evidences of the hacking.

    Good luck dude.....

Thats the problem. I cant email them because I deleted the links because I thought it was a submission without payment. :(

I would disclose but thats the only info I have where people can prove they bought a link from my site but their link never got listed. If I say the paypal ID then I couldnt do that and people woulnt be able to get their link or money back.

Yeah, but if you disclose the paypal ID, there's a good chance that someone here has dealt with them, we can figure out their DP username, and put them through public humiliation

Incredible story. Sincerly I am sorry. Didn't you ask PayPal about that e-mail adress? Just to find maybe the country of the thief.
