Just got into domaineering. Looks pretty crazy. So what is hot not and what should be a good investment. Any gurus please help a noobie out. - Bob
Dude, sorry to tell you but you are atleast 5 years too late. Expired domain names are still hot (not as much gems left as used to be...), but there are guys with deep pockets... some of them spending well over $100,000 a month...
3 letter domains are hottest if you can get one for a descent amount from someone. 4 letters are seeing some growth. Dictionary domains with good marketability are evergreen. Brandables along with pronounceable are also good.
3 letters are hot secondly old domains registered prior to 2000 are hotty ones because they are pretty rare and considered safe investment
2 letters .info are hot 3 letter and 4 letter are also going at reasonable price since they are rare....grab one while you're late
Anything that is rare and unique is good From this fact alone get their price all the 3 LLL There is no meaning to a name like this : jkx.com but still people will buy it
Some domainers believe that Google and Yahoo are looking at giving some love to ccTLD's. You'll start to see single word and generic term .us, es, eu, de, in, co.uk, ca, and a few others go up in value fairly quick IMO. Another sector is *city*+term.com (ex. MiamiPlumber.com) names will soon show some good value. *Also almost anything over 6 years old has value these days* Here is a good read http://frankschilling.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/06/the_great_domai.html take it with a grain of salt as I'm sure Frank has his own agenda
well as domainers post their opinion then we get closer to the hart of the problem the soft ware seems to get it done to" most arent aware of the technology online toady it is more relevant to test the waters" atleast take a peak at it
3chars are probably the best investment in my opinoin. You can't go wrong with those (perticularly LLL's or NNN's)..Also if you can grab some good typo domains you may be able to bring in type-in traffic from them.
